Everest Base Camp trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. Everest being the highest mountain in the world attracts a lot of travel adventurers every year. Journey to the base camp of the highest peak in the world is an epitome of adventure and trekking experience. Everest is called ‘Chomolungma’ in Sherpa which means "Goddess Mother of the World". Similarly it is called ‘Sagarmatha’ in Nepali meaning "Head of the world". However it was named as Everest after Sir George Everest, the Great Surveyor of India.

The Everest was first climbed successfully by legendary mountaineers Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953. They reached the summit via the Khumbu Ice-fall, the western path. Everest Base camp is popular for its spectacular views of mountain vistas, vegetation, and landscapes. It is one of the most rewarding trip in Khumbu region since it provides the views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingterin, Island Peak, Mt. Khumbila, Mt Hunku Peak etc.

Trek to Everest Base Camp is also popular for its botanical diversity. One can spot some of the rare himalayan wildlife in this region. One Spot Musk Deer, leopards, jackals, Mountain Thar are some of those.

Everest Region is the home of the indigenous mountain people-the Sherpas. These mountain people have unique customs and traditions and will let you in about the lifestyle in mountain region. The beautiful monasteries, colorful prayer flags, and lifestyle influenced by Tibetan culture will amaze you. The Sherpa people are very kind, warm, and very hospitable. This trek will make you known to their living style and culture. This trail leads to one of the legendary village of Sherpa people, the Namche Bazaar.

Everest Base Camp trek begins with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport. After landing in Lukla, you trek up to Dudhkoshi valley. It is a steep ascent to the Namchee Bazaar, the Sherpa Capital of the Khumbu region. A day rest at Namche Bazaar will do you good, it helps to acclimatize and it is also a good place to take a walk. After the rest in Namche Bazzar, you trek upto famous Tengboche and views of the way will surely stun you. Kalapatthar (5555m) is the viewspot to see Mount Everest and this is what every trekkers desire.

If you long for more adventure, you can ascend to Gokyo Ri or attempt the summit of Island Peak.

Itineary:

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport. Overnight at hotel

Day 02: Sightseeing around the Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel

Day 03: Flying to Lukla Airport. Trek to Phakding for 3 hours. Overnight at guesthouse

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazzar for 5 hours. Night at guesthouse

Day 05: Rest at Namche Bazzar for acclimatization. Overnight at guesthouse

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche Monastery for 5 hours. Overnight at guesthouse

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche for 6 hours. Overnight at Guesthouse

Day 08: Day trip to Chhukung valley and trek back to Dingboche for 4 hours. Overnight at Guesthouse

Day 09: Trek to Lobuche for 5 hours. Overnight at Guesthouse

Day 10: Trek to EBC, 8 hours. Overnight at guesthouse

Day 11: Hike up to Kalapatthar early in the morning and trek down to Preiche 7 hours

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazzar 6 hours. Overnight at Guesthouse

Day 13: Trek to Lukla for 6 hours. Overnight at Guesthouse

Day 14: Back to Kathmandu

Day 15: Farewell dinner and Leisure day

Day 16: Transfer to International Airport
