Hair is a part that plays a major role in enhancing a person’s look. Although you know that you can live without hair, yet people take special care to maintain healthy hair. People always feel bad if they are having hair loss. But if one person is having hair loss as a side effect of any medicines or as a symptom of any disease then their feelings would be totally different.

Hair Prosthesis is a boon for people who are having hair loss due to medication or some disease. Since 1950, doctors have suggested Hair Prosthesis for the patients who had lost their hair due to some treatments like chemotherapy, alopecia totalis, trichotillomania, alopecia areata or some other treatments.

What is the benefit?

After wearing the wigs for cancer, one can have human hair-like scalp prosthesis. It will get well with the wearer’s appearance as it is a kind of permanent solution for the hair loss problem. The wearer can customize the wigs based on the shape of the scalp and suitable hair style to enhance the beauty.

Materials used in Wigs for Cancer

High quality synthetic fiber and patches of polyurethane are used to ensure comfortable fitting and these materials would give a natural look and a comfortable feel for the wearers.

How it will be done?

First step in the making of wigs for cancer is to take the mold of the scalp to ensure the perfect fit, mostly it will be a plaster mold and in some cases adhesive tapes are used to take the mold of the scalp. After taking the mold, a thin layer of scalp skin will be created in the shape of the mold which will give the base for the wig. As the scalp of people undergoing chemotherapy is very sensitive, this base membrane will be created using hypoallergenic fabric.

Then the wearers head will be shaved completely followed by placing the scalp membrane with hair and synthetic fiber patches in the shaved head. Once it is completed, after 8 to 10 weeks the hair will be ready for hair styles and haircuts.
