The aqueduct has a width of 3.4 metres and has a cast iron construction to the trough and a stone construction to its pier. It has a total of 18 spans and was designed by Thomas Telford with four of the piers in the water and the rest out of it. It is one of the finest engineering constructions of yesteryear and stands as a marvel to be admired by one and all. Its construction came to a completion in 1805, and the Llangollen Canal passes under it to the Dee Valley. Touring Sites North Wales are the best place to stay if you want to spend some time admiring the aqueduct as it is one of the most sought after attractions in Wales.

There are many more attractions that come from the past nearby, and these include numerous Edwardian castles such as Powis, Chirk, Caernarvon, and Beaumaris, the prominent among the many. These are National Trust sites and some also come under the World Heritage Site program and are among the main attractions to tourists who come to visit the countryside with their caravans and stay in the luxurious grounds of the caravan parks.
