Winston Ruddle is the founder, producer and director of Circus Mama Africa, and is also known as Papa Africa – the founder of African Circus. He is a Zimbabwean born German citizen residing in Tanzania.

Papa Africa own and produce circus shows in big top circus tent, anywhere in the world. Founded in Tanzania, Circus Mama was initially started as an acrobatic school in 2003 in Kinondhoni, Dar – Esl Salaam. Ever since the inception, the school has grown to shelter many of Africa’s notable Acrobatic Circus acts including the now world renown - The Amazing Hakuna Matata Acrobats.

So far, Circus Mama Africa’s biggest success has been to bringing back Africa’s greatest showbiz export through investing and rolling out the largest circus production to hit Sub – Saharan Africa thus far back in Tanzania, where it all happened.

Circus Mama Africa, is made up of 70 Tons of circus gear, professional sound lighting and stage equipment, elevated seating capacity of 1100 people, 12m high 35m diameter fully circus big top tent with 11m diameter performance stage, 2 hallway tents and a back stage tent evaluating 8m by 35 meters and more than 40 world class artists to entertain you.

Circus Mama Africa has taught more than 150 acrobats and dancers and 80% of which are Tanzania. Since the Mama Africa school opened in 2003 more than 300 trainees have been graduated. Many have ended up working for the show's various productions while others have joined circus companies around the world.

Children are welcomed at the Mama Africa School during weekends and school holidays. Teachers say the combination of skill, discipline, fun and danger make circus training an appealing activity for children.

The Mama Africa practices music as a central part of presentation, and it is also used at the school during training. The drum is the soul of this, keeping circus performer’s spirits high and being the base for all the choreography put together by the dancing group. Circus Mama Africa is chiefly a visual spectacle, and therefore, linguistic and ethnic hurdles will not pose a problematic situation in terms of audience marketability.
