If you are planning a trip to Tokyo in the near future and harbour ambitions of replaying the Fast and Furious movies, be aware that the cops in Tokyo have just gotten a little faster. The Japanese police have taken delivery of some specially prepared Nissan 370Z coupe models. While one would assume that the standard Nissan 370Z coupe for sale would be sufficient to catch any traffic offenders, the police model will have some fascinating upgrades.

The Standard Spec Nissan 370Z Coupe:Even without the tweaking, the new Nissan 370Z Coupe is certainly impressive. It is equipped with a six cylinder 3.7 litre VQ engine which delivers a massive 245 kW of power and 363 Nm of torque. This is paired with a SynchroRev Match transmission system which is available as a seven speed automatic or close ratio six speed manual. This system features a computer which can automatically adjust the engine speed to make every single gear change race driver perfect. The model also features racing style, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for true driver experience. The model is also equipped with reverse camera featuring Predictive Path Technology. This is designed to help you navigate around those tight car parks and get into any space with ease. You can also avoid those heart sinking and alloy damaging kerb hits, as the technology will help you achieve more parking prowess. With the flick of a your finger across the touchscreen, you can quickly revert back to sat nav mode and be on your way again.

The NISMO Interceptors:The Tokyo traffic police have now taken delivery of their three NISMO interceptor 370Z coupe models. This trio of vehicles has been specially prepared by the NISMO, Nissan’s in house performance division. As yet, it is unclear whether these revisions and preparations have included power upgrades or whether it will still be equipped with the V6 3.7 litre engine we have in our 370Z models here. If the engine has remained the same, it will provide the traffic police with a zero to 100 kilometres per hour acceleration time of just 5.2 seconds and a top speed limit of 250 kilometres per hour. Confirmed changes include RAYS 19 inch alloy wheels and larger brakes. It is also thought that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police will have requested new dampers to be tuned for the additional weight of safety equipment cop cars need to carry. A spokesperson for the Tokyo City police said that the Nissan 370Z was chosen for this role as the police wanted to have an "iconic car" for their new road safety initiatives.
