Autumn is a golden period when you thank your stars for putting an end to all sun damage caused in summer. If you think that now you can relax and forget about hair care, you are totally wrong. Unfortunately, winter will bring in a new set of worries. Moreover, some of the summer hair problems will stay during all year, such as radiation. Only imagine how it can combine with dry air, and you will understand that dandruff, frizz, static are unavoidable. For this reason, stylists at hair salon Midtown East NYC have created a list of useful tips on how to take care of your hair properly.

Tip #1 Condition

In winter, your hair can get damaged by fierce winds and frosty air; moreover, the dry air in the room with heating can make your hair weak and brittle. Therefore the most important thing you should do is to provide your hair with enough amount of moisture. Stylists at hair salon Midtown East NYC advise to go for deep conditioning regularly and opt for more intensive daily conditioner during the winter months.

Tip #2 Fight Frizz

Static is something you can’t avoid in winter; it can be caused by pullovers, sweaters, scarves, caps, gloves you wear. As a result, your hair gets frizzy in a moment. To get rid of this problem, purchase a brush which is made of a combination of plastic and boar bristles. It is also advisable to wash your hair in lukewarm water instead of hot one to avoid over drying your scalp (this tip works not only in winter).

Tip #3 Add Shine

Due to many factors hair can lose its shine and bounce in the cold period. You can change things by using different homemade masks, such as one with honey. Actually, it’s quite simple because you need to detangle your hair and apply warm honey over the roots and locks. Cover your head with a shower cap and a towel and let it stay for approximately 30 minutes. After it, wash the mask out with lukewarm water. If you use it regularly, your hair will retain shine and bounce. This recipe is universal so that you can add essential oils or other components to your taste.

Tip #4 Dry Hair

Unfortunately, during the cold winter months, it is better to forget about all heat tools, such as flat iron, curling iron, etc. The question about using the hair dryer in winter is disputable. From the one hand, your locks are already brittle and exposing to heat air will make them even more damaged. From the other hand, hair that is not dried out properly after washing can lead to other scalp problems. So, here you have two variants: first, let your hair some extra time to dry naturally, second, to use hair dryer but with all possible precautions (such as heat protectant products)

Take care of your hair properly, and it will thank you with lots of shine and bounce.
