Wow! I can’t believe it’s that time of year again! The holidays are just around the corner and there’s still so much to do. Of course there is! With baking, shopping, and wrapping, there never seems to be enough time in my day. This year is proving to be even busier. The grandkids are coming home for Christmas! So I’ve been very busy indeed!

One of the things I enjoy most is decorating. I just love turning the house into a Christmas wonderland. And this year’s no different. I started my Christmas crafting last summer. I’ve been gathering materials and supplies to turn into cool Christmas decor. My first real project for this holiday season is this Christmas Chalkboard Sign I made from a piece of MDF wood I found in the wood pile at my husband’s Car Stereo store. (They make speaker boxes using this type of wood)

I made this Christmas Chalkboard Sign for under $5! Aside from the free wood, I also used chalkboard paint, bistro chalk marker, bits of ribbon, and bells. The only items I had to buy were the 2 large jingle bells which I got on Black Friday at my local craft store.

I plan to use it by the front door. I can’t wait to set it in my poinsettia filled red wagon!

This post contains affiliate links for the products I used.

To make this Christmas Chalkboard Sign all I just painted the wood (as I said I used MDF wood, but you can use any type you have on hand, and in any size too!) with black chalkboard paint (I used Deco Art Americana’s chalkboard paint, but again you can use what you have or any brand you find at the craft store).

I made a stencil on the Cricut Design Space which I cut out on my Cricut Explore Air. Then I used a white Bistro chalk marker to fill in the stencil. Once that was done I made a large bow with wired ribbon, attached the small jingle bells (left over from my Santa Hat projects) and the large ones with coordinating ribbon then secured it to the top of the sign. Voilá! My Christmas Chalkboard Sign is good to go!

I’m sharing the stencil template with you here today! All you have to do is click on the link and download it to your desk top. If you have a die cutting machine you can upload it to your design space account, re-size it to fit your piece of wood, and then cut out.

If you don’t have a cutting machine, no worries! Just pop the file into a photo editing app, like PicMonkey, a free online photo editor, to re-size. Once that’s done, print it on cardstock, then cut out the shapes and letters with a craft knife. I know a few more steps but it’s doable!

Once you’ve got your sign done you can decorate it with bells and ribbons, or just about anything you want!

I hope you love this project as much as I do! Don’t forget to post your Christmas Chalkboard Signs, I’ve love to see them!
