For educators contemplating taking their students on a school ski trip, there are many excellent destinations, spanning the snowy mountain ranges of Europe, North America and Asia. An age-old favourite is France, which is home to numerous world-class ski resorts – including one of the most impressive in Europe, Les Deux Alpes. As well as being renowned for the quality of its skiing, Les Deux Alpes is extremely welcoming to students, and has plenty of other activities that will appeal to young people. To learn more about this fantastic resort, its surrounding area, and other local highlights, read on. Les Deux Alpes

Located in the picturesque Isere region, high up in the French Alps, Les Deux Alpes is a superb school ski trip destination, filled with stunning views, excellent skiing facilities and more. A popular resort with skiers from all over the world, it has a friendly international atmosphere that will help students settle in while at the same time expanding their worldview, as well as plenty of interesting things to see and do. The area is characterised by deep valleys and high peaks – the resort itself is one of the highest in France, at 1,650 metres – which make it the perfect place to see the natural wonders of the Alps: the Chamonix Glacier and nearby ice caves are particularly impressive. The Skiing

Les Deux Alpes has plenty to appeal to school ski trip groups, no matter what their level of ability or experience is. With over 220 kilometres of track in total, there is enough variety to ensure that everyone can find routes that they are comfortable with, while the more experienced are well catered for with a variety of world-class advanced runs. Even absolute beginners will find a good range of options close to the village, and those that want to keep challenging themselves during their stay will find themselves able to advance fairly quickly from the nursery slopes to the exciting choice of intermediate routes along the mountainside and glacier. Those who are up for a maximum difficulty challenge can tackle the ‘Super Diable’ black run, while those interested in snowboarding are catered for with a half pipe.

Off the Slopes

Thanks to its size and popularity with the international skiing crowd, Les Deux Alpes has a wealth of fantastic age-appropriate activities for students who visit on a school ski trip. For free mornings or afternoons, there are many excellent shops selling everything from first-rate winter sports gear to souvenirs, while for evening entertainment there is plenty to choose from, including bowling, ice skating, swimming, karaoke, discos and more. All of this means that young visitors will be able to unwind both physically and mentally after a day of challenging themselves on the slopes – all the better to tackle new challenges the next day.
