Now that chalkboards are a thing of the past, Magnetic Boards have become the new favourite teaching tool used in schools, colleges and universities worldwide. Here I shall explain the varying uses for a Magnetic Board in educational establishments.

A Magnetic Board is a form of whiteboard. They have a steel core and so can accept magnets on their smooth white surface. They are generally found with aluminium frames, but are available with wooden frames, and you can even chose to colour match them with your classroom by powder coating the frame in your chosen colour.

Magnetic Boards can be used for everyday basic activities in your classroom as they work exactly the same as a standard whiteboard would. They have been found to be useful ways of highlighting important information extracted from text books, ensuring that pupils take the information in. They can also be used for brainstorming sessions, where students and teachers alike can take control of the magnetic whiteboard. The best part is that the information can easily be erased and started over again with a simple whiteboard eraser or cloth. With different coloured whiteboard pens on the market these days, you can make full use of displaying different information in different colours. Try colour coding your display, this could be particularly useful in English lessons to underline or write Nouns in one colour and Verbs in another, for example.

Magnetic Whiteboards can also be used in corridors to display information to students and teachers alike. If you are worried about students erasing the information, you can always purchase a magnetic board with a lockable case. We carry stock of such a product in the UK, and it is also suitable for external use so you can display information outside the school or college for parents and visitors to see too. Magnetic Boards can also be used in staff rooms to help display class timetables or general staff information.

The obvious benefit of using a Magnetic Board is that you can not only write on the surface, but you can use magnets and magnetic gridding tape to aid in your display. Within your school, college or university, this can be widely used in classrooms and sports halls alike. Particularly within the gymnasium and changing areas where you can plan tactics for sport activities such as netball, basketball and football. You can use gridded tape on your Magnetic Whiteboards to show the outlines of the court or pitch, and then coloured magnets can be used as players.

Another popular use for a Magnetic Board in educational establishments is for projection. Most schools and colleges have projector screens, which are fast being replaced with whiteboards to save on money and space. This way you can project onto the board and still highlight text on it with a drywipe pen. This has hopefully shown you just how versatile the Magnetic Board can be!
