Religious Tourism in North East- Way to Achieve Peace

India is a beautiful country and there are some locations which are not much explored but are equally exotic. North East India is one such region which is not visited by travelers frequently, but its natural beauty is worth exploring. North-East India comprises of Seven Sister States- Assam, Arunachal, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. This part of India has uniqueness, which is incomparable from other parts of India. These states are visited by different people due to various reasons. Since, these states house several religious places, therefore people often plan for religious tourism as well. Religious tourism is a type of tourism, where people travel alone or in groups for pilgrimage, missionary or fellowship purposes. India is a nation that believes in the ideology of unity in diversity and religious tourism in north-east part of India also delivers the same.

Assam- In this state, Kamakhya, Mahabhairav Temple, Sivadol, Hajo, etc. are some worth watching Temples. Kamakhya temple is one of the most popular temples, and around the middle of June, the Ambubachi Mela is celebrated in this temple, which is visited by myriad devotees every year. Mahabhairav Temple, located in Tezpur town is a Lord Shiva temple where Shivratri is celebrated with big festivity. The Sivadol, located in the Sivasagar, is considered to be the tallest Shiva temple in India. Pua Macca is the most famous Muslim pilgrimage place. Hoigrib Madhava Temple, situated on the Monikut hill, is best known in group of Hindu where the Buddha attained nirvana. Mahamaya temple is regarded as a greatest shakti peeth for Hindu pilgrims.
Arunachal Pradesh – In this state, Parashuram Kund, Malinthan Akashiganga, etc., are some of the most popular Hindu pilgrimages. The Buddhist Sacred places are- Bomdila Monastery, Tawang Monastery, Urguelling Monastery etc. These Pilgrimage centers are widely visited by tourists. Malinthan is a temple situated at the foot of Siang hills, dedicated to goddess Durga and built on classical tradition of Orissa.
Nagaland - Mizo Church, Spirit of Faith Church, Ao Baptist Church, Dimapur Siva Temple, Longkhum Church, are some of the religious destinations which are must visit. The Shiva temple at Dimapur is a sacred pilgrim destination located in Singrijan village. The festival of Lord Shiva is celebrated with great grandeur here, every year.
Tripura- Tripura is one of the charming destinations of Tripura, North East India. Popular religious places are Tripura Sundari Temple, Kamalasagar Kali Temple, Bhuvaneshwari Temple. Tripura Sundari Temple is devoted to Tripura Sundari, a manifestation of Goddess Sati.
