This might look like a, but obvious question but the answer to this is actually no. To understand matter better one need to first understand the meaning of B1 visa and what is the importance of the same.

B1 visa can be defined as a specialized visa category meant for immigrant travelers coming to United States of America for the purpose doing short term business activities. The way US immigration law defines business activities under this visa category is quite different from the explanation under any regular employment visa category. Business activities under B1 visa are defined as activities which doesn’t include actual labor work or not receiving any money from a US source.

In fact there are specific periods before which visa application has to be filled from the date of actual travel. The period difference is based upon the type of activity one would be involved during his or her stay in US. Say for a person visiting the country for attending a scientific conference should apply at least 90 days in advance from the date of actual travel. Complying with the time period guidelines would insure higher probability of the visa application getting accepted in one go.

Another important thing that an applicant of B-1 Visitor for Business Visa should keep in mind that your dependents are not allowed to travel with you if you travelling to US with B1 business visa. Plus if you actually a citizen of a member country which falls under the visa waiver scheme of US immigration law under which anybody can freely travel for a period of 90 days then the person would preferably don’t require a B1 Business visa.

Now to answer the moot question regarding 10 year B1 business visa being issued to somebody, Definitely B1 or B2 visas are generally issued for a period 10 years because they are meant only for short business or leisure travel durations. But this doesn’t means that one qualifies to stay in US continuously for 10 years if any 10 visa being issued. The period of 10 year actually defines the time period up to which the visa stands valid. As per the US visa guidelines, a person visiting US with a B1 visa can only stay for a maximum period of 60 days from the date he/she lands in the country. You authorized period of stay during a single visit depend on the timestamp on the passport and online record as I-94.

So technically speaking you can get your visa which is valid for a 10 year period but that doesn’t assure you can stay in US for 10 years after the first travel. Period of ten years means you can actually do multiple business travel during the period of 10 years with 180 days being the maximum number of days which a person can stay during a single visits and if one needs an extension of the stay, one need to apply for the same. if want to do it yourself you can reach out a New York Immigration Attorney for help.
