What is Visa On Arrival?

Visa on arrival (VOA) means that you can obtain it instantly after you land in the country. It is also referred visa upon Arrival or Landing visa. It is a short process of half or an hour. Across the world currently, 59 countries provide on arrival visa for Indian citizens. 25 countries are visa exempt and 39 countries avail visa on arrival. While most of the visa on arrival countries offer visa on arrival facility certain countries may require a permit, e-visa, invitation letter etc.

India holds a good place on arrival visa countries list. Currently, 75 countries are eligible for visa on arrival in India and more countries are to be added soon.


Thailand visa on arrival fees: 2000 Thai Baht or Rs 4,452.

Validity: 15-30 days.

Thailand visa on arrival for Indians:

Indians need to provide these documents when they are applying for Thai visa on Arrival –

  1. Indian Citizen Passport valid upto 30 days.
  2. Return travel air ticket for flying out of Thailand within the next 15 days.
  3. One passport size (4 x 6 cm) photo.
  4. Filled-in Thailand visa on Arrival form and Thailand Arrival Card (provided during the flight).
  5. Visa on Arrival fee for Indians is 2000 THB.
  6. Booking confirmation and Address of hotel in Thailand. In case you haven’t booked your accommodation yet then you book your hotel.
  7. A significant proof that you have funds of at least 10,000 THB during your stay in Thailand. Though it is rarely asked and funds can be shown in any currency.

Best time to visit: Best time to wander in Thailand is November and early April.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka on arrival fees for Indian : USD 20 or Rs 1500.

Validity : Upto 30 days.

Sri Lanka visa on arrival :

  1. Indian passport valid upto 30 days.
  2. Confirmed return ticket within 30 days.
  3. Booking of Hotel for at least one day to show your stay in the application form.
  4. A credit card for making payments.
  5. A print-out of the ETA Approval.

ETA Acknowledgement

When you submit your Sri Lanka ETA application and make the payment for fess, you will receive an ETA Acknowledgement by email. The "ETA Approval" contains your ETA number, name, validity and entry type.

Malaysia on arrival fees for Indian : 100 USD or 6,932 Approx.

Validity : 7 days.

Malaysia visa on arrival : Malaysia do not provide visa on arrival for Indians. In order to visit Malaysia, the country offers an option to the Indians to apply for an e-Visa. However, you can get a Visa on Arrival if you are an Indian National arriving from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia. And the required Documents you need for it are –

  1. Indian Citizen Passport valid upto 6 months.
  2. One Should hold a valid Tourist Visa for either Thailand, Singapore or Indonesia.
  3. A Passport size photograph with white background.
  4. Confirmed Return back ticket to India.
  5. You must have at least USD 1000 to show you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Malaysia..

  • Langkawi.
  • Suria KLCC
  • Bukit Bintang.

Best time to visit : May to september.

Cambodia on arrival fees for Indian : USD 20 or Rs 1,453 Approx.

Validity : Upto 30 days.

Cambodia visa on arrival :

  1. Your original passport from the validity of 6 months from the date of arrival in Cambodia.
  2. A recent photograph of size 4 x 6 cm on white background.
  3. A copy of confirmed return flight back tickets.
  4. A copy of hotel accomodation.
  5. A copy of the original recent bank statement for the last 3 months.
  6. A copy of your credit card statement which can be considered proof that you can manage your expenses during your stay in Cambodia.
  7. Otherwise, make sure the applicant have at least $500 cash to show.

  • Sihanoukville.
  • Koh ker, Koh Rong, Koh Tonsay.
  • Kratie and Phnom Penh.
  • Popokvil Waterfall.

Best time to visit : November to March. To avoid crowd go in October.

Indonesia on arrival fees for Indian : USD 35 or Rs 2,428 Approx.

Validity : Upto 30 days.

Indonesia visa on arrival :

  1. Indian Citizen Passport valid upto 6 months from the date of arrival in Indonesia.
  2. Minimum two blank pages in the passport.
  3. A confirmed return ticket.
  4. Evidence showing that you have enough financial sources for your stay in the country.
  5. It is necessary to pay a requisite fee and that needs to be paid to the authorities.

Attraction :

  • Pristine beaches and sunset of Bali.
  • Towns of Ubud.
  • Capital Jakarta for its museums and monuments.
  • Mt. Batur to see a volcano in action.
  • Indonesian Temples.

Best time to visit : May to September.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong on arrival fees for Indian : Free of cost.

Validity : 14 days.

Hong Kong visa on arrival :

All indian passport holders could obtain a Hong Kong visa on arrival before 2017 but now that document is replaced with pre-arrival registration. Even it is visa-exempt country but they have to meet the requirement. The process is completely online and you can get it in as little as 15 minutes. Indians need to provide these Documents for pre-arrival registration –

  1. Indian Citizen Passport valid upto 6 months from the date of arrival in Hong Kong.
  2. There stay should not exceed 14 days.
  3. A valid email address.

Pre-arrival registration

  1. Open the website of the immigration Department of Hong Kong.
  2. Click on ‘Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals’.
  3. Enter the personal details and it should match the details on the passport.
  4. After that a successful registration will give a ‘ Notification slip for Pre-arrival Registration for Indian Nationals’.

Notification slip

The ‘Notification slip’ has to be printed on a blank A4 size white paper for the purpose of boarding a conveyance bound for Hong Kong and immigration clearance upon arrival.

Vietnam on arrival fees for Indian :

For Single entries for One month-

Service fees – 18 USD.

Stamping fees – 25 USD.

For Multiple entry for One month –

Service fees – 23 USD.

Stamping fees – 50 USD.

Validity : 30 days.

Vietnam visa on arrival :

You need to apply for a visa online in order to visit Vietnam. In short, Vietnam Visa on Arrival is a process of obtaining the pre-approved visa letter. It is highly recommended that you apply for a Vietnam visa through the official website of recognized by the Vietnam Immigration Department.

It is an easy and convenient four-step process. Fill out the online application form by entering your name, passport number, date of birth, nationality, gender, and arrival date. Once your Vietnam E-visa is approved, you should print it out and carry with you to Vietnam. The Documents you need further are –

  1. A printed copy of approved Vietnam E-visa.
  2. Indian Citizen Passport valid upto 6 months from the date of arrival.
  3. One passport size photo of (4cm x 6cm).
  4. Confirmed hotel reservations.
  5. Confirmed return air ticket.
  6. Updated bank statement of the last three months.
  7. Evidence showing that you have enough financial sources for your stay in the country at least USD 1,000.

  • Hang Son Doong Cave and Hang Toi.

Best time to visit : Spring (February to April) and Autumn (August to October).

Dubai visa on arrival fees : AED 100 to 120 or Rs 2,271 Approx.

Validity : 14 days.

Dubai Visa on arrival for Indian :

This is mandatory that Dubai visa on arrival for Indian passport needs to have a USA visa stamped on their passports. Even if you USA visa stamped on your passport, beware of these rules –

  1. Your us visa or Green Card should be valid for at least 6 months from your date of exit from UAE.
  2. If you have a US Transit visa (Category C including C – 1/D ) then you cannot get a UAE visa on arrival.

The further Documents you will need for visa on arrival are –

  1. Indian Citizen Passport valid upto 6 months from the date of arrival.
  2. Give your passport which has US visa stamped on it.
  3. A photo of size 4.3 x 5.5 cm.
  4. A confirmed return ticket.
  5. The required fees for entry permit is AED 100 to 120, you can pay it in cash or card.
  6. When you receive the UAE visa and money receipt make your way to immigration counter.

Validity : 150 days.

Nepal Visa on arrival : Indian citizens do not need a visa to enter Nepal. All you need is a validIndian passport and other bona fide photo identity issued by the Government of India.
