Lahore is the historical center of Punjab and the capital of province too. This city is the 2nd largest city in Pakistan and is known as the city of gardens. Lahore has many historical places of Mughal era which are wonders in themselves. Top 5 five historical places of Lahore includes:

1. Badshahi Mosque:

It is also known as emperor’s mosque. It was built in 1673 by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The construction of the mosque took about two years, from May 1671 to April 1673. The mosque was built opposite the Lahore Fort. The exterior is decorated with stone carving as well as marble inlay on red sandstone

2. Lahore Fort:

This place is also known as Shahi Qila.it was built by Akbar the Mughal emperor 1566. There are number of famous places in fort to visit like Akbari gate, Alamgiri gate, Diwan-e-Aam, Dewan-e-Khas, Jahangir’s quadrangle, Khawabgah, Makateeb khana, Moti masjid, Lal Burj, Kala Burj Hammam-e-shahi,Paien Bagh, Hathi paer, Khilwat khana, Ath dara, Shish Mahal, Bangla, Pictured wall, Museum.

3. Minar-e-Pakistan:

It was built in order to mark the Pakistan resolution day that was on March 23rd, 1940 in Iqbal Park. It has very emotional memories attached to it. The foundation stone was laid on 23 March 1960 by the governor West Pakistan Mr. Akhtar Hussain in the Minto Park, which was later renamed as Iqbal Park, after poet Dr. Iqbal who first gave the idea of a separate Muslim country for the Muslims of the British India.

4. Shalimar Gardens:

It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1641. Shalimar Gardens in Lahore is completely one-of-a-kind artistic creation. The garden is an attractive site primarily because of its unique 3-level terraces going from south to the north side of the garden.

5. Wazir Khan Mosque:

It was built be Sheikh Ilm-ud-din Ansari in 1634. It was awarded to a young prince and hence name Wazir which means ‘Minister’. The mosque's distinguishing architectural feature is the use of minarets at each of its four corners--the first time such a design was employed in Lahore. Much of the mosque is constructed of cut and dressed brick decorated with glazed tile mosaics.
