If you are in an illusion that all your data is safe in your laptop and that your laptop can never break down, then you need to get over this soon. I, personally, do not understand the reason why anyone would want to risk their data. I understand that it’s not a big issue like a laptop repair problem, but if you are aware of the increasing number in laptop vulnerabilities, you wouldn’t want to lose your files. A laptop repair expert will be able to resolve the problems with your laptop, but recovering files has a much lesser chance after that recovery. Sometimes delay in backing up your files is fine, but to skip it completely is kind of unacceptable in the digital era.

May be some people lack the proper information, or maybe they perceive of the process to be hard. Well, it isn’t. After all, it’s not a laptop repair issue where you would need to be a tech expert. Here, I will explain you in a very simple manner how to create a backup of your laptop.

External Hard Drive Backup

One of the simplest ways to store all your data offline, used by many of the users. You just need to follow the steps below to get those files safe.

  • Depending on the size of the data, you would need a hard drive or a flash drive along with a USB cable to connect this external drive from your laptop.
  • Now connect the external drive to the laptop using the USB cable.
  • Your laptop will automatically open the drive, if not, then check whether your system is showing the external drive or not by going through the ‘

  • option. Even after that if you are not able to find the external drive on your laptop, then there’s a problem with your drive or laptop, and you need to go through laptop repair solution for the latter.
  • To make the data more secure, just scan the external drive once using the antivirus program installed in your laptop. Now your external drive is ready for use.
  • Search for all the applications, files, and folders you would want to keep backups. Select all of them, right click the mouse for copy option, or just use ctrl + c for copying all the files.
  • Open the external drive on your laptop, right click the mouse for paste option or just press ctrl + v for pasting all the files in the external drive.
  • You can all use the ‘send to’ option, after selecting all the files to directly send the copy of all your files to external drive.
  • For making it less cumbersome, you can also set the reminder to copy once in a while when you are doing your work on your laptop. You just to leave external drive connected to make yourself free from cumbersome manual backup.

Cloud Backup

A far superior way to backup the files online, where you wouldn’t need to worry about external drive corruption. Just follow the simple steps below:

  • Select any of the cloud service providers. Some of them are: Drop box, one drive, and Google Drive. These cloud services offers free storage to certain limit, but you can always opt for more storage space by paying a subscription fee, which is always worth.
  • Create an account on any of the cloud services by signing up for them. Just visit their official website for the same.
  • You can upload the desired folder or files on the server of these cloud services by just drag and drop option, or by browse computer option available on cloud service.
  • To make the process automatic, you would need to download the computer application for the selected cloud service. Just login with the account and a folder will be automatically created where you could transfer the files and cloud service will keep uploading without interfering with your work flow.
  • If you face any difficulty with your laptop not uploading/syncing files, check for the internet connection first, and in worse connect laptop repair expert.
