Skiing is a fantastic hobby, and there are few places in Europe that are better to enjoy it than France. At this time of year, a holiday skiing in France is popular with people from across the continent. If you or someone you know is heading to one of the top resorts like Morzine, there are certain "must-haves" to pack before you set out.

Safety Gear

Safety gear is essential for anyone heading off on a holiday skiing in France. Not only is it practical but it also offers peace of mind. Safety gear like helmets and gloves are always important, but if you are going to ski off-piste, it is even more so. Many resorts in France, especially Morzine, have excellent off-piste opportunities, so keep this in mind.Think beyond the basic gear and consider things you may need if you go skiing off-piste. This could include a shovel, a beacon, a GPS unit, a map of the area and a good first-aid kit - all of which can be very useful.

A Good-Quality Helmet

A helmet is a must-have piece of equipment because, again, it can help offer peace of mind as well as looking good. Naturally, everyone should wear a helmet when skiing, but a really good-quality one is the ultimate goal. Make sure it fits properly, and you can also choose extra options like venting systems, audio and video options.

Durable Clothing

Proper ski clothing suitable for all weather conditions is certainly necessary for anyone heading off on a holiday skiing in France. At many of the French alpine resorts the conditions can change rapidly, so it is good to have a base layer, a fleece and a waterproof jacket that can then be taken off when needed. A good quality hat, boots and gaiters could also be welcome additions. Try to get the best quality you can because this can really make the difference. Lastly, if there is one item of clothing that is really useful, it is gloves: a pair of really good quality gloves that are warm and waterproof will be invaluable.

If you're heading off on a holiday skiing in France in the near future, make sure you pack well and are well-prepared for any eventuality the weather can throw at you. Take the time list what you will need, and do be prepared to invest a little in the gear you purchase – especially if you travel to the snow every year.
