Four Steps to Choose the Best Car GPS Navigator
Posted: May 09, 2017
There are a lot of GPS navigator options now available in the market. But because not all of them are created equal, there are a few things that you have to consider when buying one. Here are four important steps in choosing the best car GPS navigator:
1. Consider your budget first.
Decide on a general price range before you even start looking at models. If your budget is very limited, you may have to choose a GPS navigator with a smaller screen, and just focus on the most essential features. You may also look for a discounted price for an older model, but see to it that you will be able to update the maps. Your budget will also determine whether it’s best to go for an integrated unit or a standalone device.
2. If you want something slicker, go for an integrated GPS navigation unit.
Integrated units tend to run more smoothly, but they are also tend to be quite expensive. This is a good option if you want to update your head unit or you do not want to stick a blocky device to your dashboard and windshield. Another advantage of integrated navigation units is that some of them are complete carputers.
3. For a less expensive and more portable unit, opt for a standalone GPS device.
Standalone GPS devices are less expensive than integrated units. There are budget models and there are also feature-packed units. Aside from a lower price tag, another advantage of standalone GPS devices is their portability. You don’t need to have them built into the dash of a single vehicle, which means that you are allowed to use them in various vehicles.
4. Look for essential features.
No matter if you are going for a budget or a high-end model, there are certain core features that should always be present in your device. It should have a discernible screen size and resolution, audible directions, and automatic routing. Screen size and resolution are usually closely associated to price. Less expensive models typically have smaller screens and lower resolutions.
When looking for a GPS navigator, it’s advisable to buy from a reputable shop that provides GPS navigation system and other car accessories all over the Philippines.
