The Sultanate of Oman is a quaint country situated on the edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Flanked by seas on two sides and the invincible Rub’ Al Khali on the third side, the Sultanate is the 2nd largest country in the region. The country is hailed for its initiatives towards remaining peaceful despite the sharing borders with tumultuous states in the MENA region.

Oman has always managed to keep its old-world charm while wholeheartedly embracing modernism. Here lives one of the most liberal, courteous and gentle people in the region. With a population of 4.491 million, the country has always had a strong currency value and an impressive economy. When it comes to advertising in Oman among a population that has as many expatriates as the indigenous people, there are a couple of unique things that Advertising companies Oman need to emphasize on.

Oman’s strong economy is tied fast to its oil & gas industry. Since the world knows where to flock for its energy needs, the country did not have to work much on advertising and marketing. The suitors just came in search for them. Recently, with the oil & gas industry getting hit worldwide, the country is opening its market for diverse industries particularly tourism. With this, the significance of advertising has gained in this country.

The advertising companies Oman are also hence in a nascent stage. However, it is always homegrown strategies that work well for the Omani businesses. Despite major global advertising agencies walking in, it is always the native agencies that the businesses are most comfortable with. It is the level of flexibility and the years of expertise with the local Oman market that make these agencies the favorite picks for these businesses.

There are companies with 20+ years of experience in Oman covering an entire range of marketing portfolio – conventional and contemporary. They, from their experience, believe that Oman likes to take on things slow and easy. Oman likes to try all things new and trendy, but in their time.

An example which they point out is digital marketing. The whole world has recognized the power of social media and a significant segment of 72.9% of Oman’s urban population is active on the latest platforms like Instagram. However, the businesses are only waking out of the slumber that has been supported by an oil based economy. The agencies have been able to finally convince the businesses the importance of social media in Oman and more and more of them dedicate a share of their marketing expenses for social media marketing.

Oman has its own way of working. The advertising companies in Oman are doing a wonderful job combining their knowledge of what the expanding market wants with that of global practices.
