Health is Wealth – a Developmental Educational Strategy

As a part of the development that is taking place in India, education has been the main source to provide the gear for accelerating the present condition. For a long time, India has been the country developing in the infrastructure and economy departments. However, education is the most important sector, where India ranks at a significant position globally, there had been still some sections of the country where education has not been properly facilitated. There has been a deficit of developmental education for the underprivileged children. Although, governmental organizations have been trying hard to implement new ways of introducing schools and other educational setups to provide education to these deprived children, along with them many nongovernmental organizations have been functioning independently to compensate the deficit.

Education concerns about the knowledge regarding each and every aspect of human life. For social development, it is important that healthcare and hygiene play an important part to motivate quality education. More than 80 million population of India is still dwelling in slums and the other extreme parts of the country. This section of the people is deprived of any sort of developmental work that is taking place all around the country. Healthcare being one of the most important issues for the development of a human life, education towards hygiene and healthcare has been the focus point for the NGOs.

Since independence, a large number of NGOs have been popping up all around the country, introducing numerous projects, schemes and programmes that involve strategies to provide developmental education for the underprivileged children. It focuses on the skill development and the inner quality improvement of a human being. Age has never been a bar for them to facilitate education. Schools have a central place in the health of a community. Inappropriate hygiene in schools can cause many diseases. Without the school sanitation and hygiene facilities, if they are not maintained and used adequately, schools can become places where diseases are likely transmitted.

Healthcare education and hygiene has certain important processes that need to be worked upon:

  1. Plan health education strategies, interventions and programmes.
  2. Implement health education strategies, interventions and programmes.
  3. Conduct evaluation and research related to health education.
  4. Assess individual and community needs for health education.

Therefore,education towards the healthcare and hygiene is a major area of concern for the integral improvement of India. NGOs have been doing this for years and have handled this challenge with absolute efficacy.
