Like other surgeries, Nose Reshaping also has some effects such as swelling, brushing etc. Most often, the doctor advises the patients to have complete rest and provide other instruction related to medications, exercise, diet etc. Many of the patients are curious about the exercise after the surgery and they ask about it before or after the surgery. Mostly, the doctors advise their patients to avoid exercise for one month after the surgery.

If they don’t follow the instructions of the doctor, there is a high risk of nose bleeding or other complications. Moreover, they are advised to contact the surgeon whenever they make a change in the diet, exercise etc.

Heavy weight lifting increases blood pressure in the face and nose area resulting in bleeding. Actually, any activity that may increase the blood pressure may cause brushing or bleeding. Any exercise like Yoga, cycling, weight lifting, aerobics, climbing etc. must be avoided.

A general weekly plan for exercise is given below:

Week 1:

The patients are not allowed to do any heavy activity. What they can do is walking at a light pace.

Week 2:

Now the patients are allowed to perform the limited exercise. Cardiovascular activity is only limited and the patients are said to be attentive to the heart rate.

Week 3:

Intensive weightlifting is not allowed. Inversions are limited in downward dog. Cardiovascular activities can resume but heart rate should be considered. The patients should avoid running.

Week 4:

Inversions in Yoga are allowed. Cardiovascular activities can be increased to the advised level. Running is still prohibited.

Week 5:

Most of the postures of Yoga are not possible and cardiovascular is resumed to pre-surgery level. Running is possible at this point. Weight lifting is now possible using normal weights.

Week 6:

The patients must pay attention to the swelling while they are working out.

What about sports?

Contact sports are strictly prohibited for at least 6 months. Athletes are advised to wear a mask to prevent any accident or injury. Boxing, martial arts, and all such sports are not allowed due to the possibility of a nose fracture.

Why should we avoid exercise after rhinoplasty?

Bleeding is one of the major risks if the patients perform any heavy activity. Besides, bleeding, swelling also is a big risk after the surgery. However, swelling is supposed to go within one week. Light activities are allowed and these activities are helpful in draining the fluid away faster. However, heavy activities right after the surgery may increase the swelling.

Exercises make you fit and healthy but after a surgical procedure, the surgeons are more likely to restrict any heavy physical activity because of the increased chances of different complications related to the surgery. Results of Nose Reshaping depend on the proper aftercare and a proper aftercare is possible if the patients follow all the instructions provided by the surgeon. After the approval of the surgeon, you can do any exercise or activity you want but before that enjoy the recovery period and take proper rest.
