Most of the broadband DSL and cable service providers offer modems to users that use their faster speed Internet services. Whereas some modems come with an inbuilt router, a few of them connect only single PC to the Internet. If you’re using a Belkin wireless or wired router, it can be attached to the modem to let multiple PCs connect to the Internet via the cable or DSL connection. It also lets you add further devices that can expand the network, such as print servers to share the printer to allow new simultaneous computer connections.

Note: - In the event of any concerns, the Belkin router customer care number allows you to contact the experts and get reliable resolutions directly.

Learn How to Connect a Modem to the Belkin Router

Step 1 – Turn off your PC and the modem if you have not already done accordingly. Remove the Ethernet or USB cable from the modem that connects it to the host computer. Plug an Ethernet cable into a WAN port on the back of the Belkin router. Attach the other point of the cable to the Ethernet port available on the rear of the modem.

Step 2 – Attach the cable end that you just removed from the modem to the Belkin router’s Port 1. Use more cables to connect other systems to the network and router. Try to connect other systems to Port 2, Port 3, or exceeding as required. Make a connection between the Belkin router and AC power adapter. Connect the cable another end to the power strip or electrical outlet.

Step 3 – Start the modem first, and then the host computer connected to the Port 1 on your Belkin router. Once the computer starts and shows the Windows desktop, you can turn on your router. Insert the Belkin router installation disc into the CD drive of the host PC.

Step 4 - Click on the ‘Setup’ link, once the setup wizard for your wireless router displays. Wait for the installation program to copy required files to the Windows operating system and finish the router software’s installation process. Once the setup utility installs the application, a pop-up menu displays asking you for the new name of the Wi-Fi network and password for your wireless router.

Step 5 – Input the router SSID name into the ‘Network Name SSID’ text field. Type the ‘MyOfficeNetwork’ or somewhat similar in the area. Input the router’s new password in the ‘Password’ field. You can use the 8 and 12 characters length of the password. To make the password secure and reliable, try to include numbers, letters, and symbols. Click the ‘Next’ option.

Step 6 – Click the ‘Exit’ button once the ‘Success!’ verification window displays on the screen, which ensures the proper installation of the Belkin router that, can access the network via the modem. Launch the Web browser program on the host PC and browse the Internet as you typically would. Turn on all other PCs connected to the router.

Now, when you log into Windows on the other systems, you will be able to browse the web via the router connection.
