NSF is an abbreviation for Notes Storage Facility, a special file format for databases used by IBM Lotus Notes and IBM Domino Server.
NSF file stores data in document unit which is termed as Notes. It comprises of crucial information of a Notes account like emails, contacts, user data, design information, appointments and so on. And these document can be encrypted in following way.
- Database Encryption
- Filed Encryption
- Document Encryption
- Mail Encryption and
- Port Encryption.
- The by default location of NSF file is: -
C:\Program files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\ Data
- The maximum OS file size limit for the database of Lotus Notes and Domino server is up to 64 GB.
Why merge NFS files? there can be many reasons for merging NSF files as there are always problems with multiple NSF file and large file NSF file.
Sometimes Lotus Notes mail client have multiple accounts and each account have separate NST files and to have easy access, a user can organize these files at one place by merging them. As it is justifiable, accessing data from multiple files may consume lots of efforts and time.
sometimes user just wants to have the backup or relocate the Data files, so user can either archive them or organized them at one place.
or the sometimes system just give an error and tells to create a new replica, those errors are: -
try to open Database using Louts note client/Domino server, but it gives the error
"Database (.nsf) has grown too large; use File New Replica to recreate your file with larger capacity."How to merge NSF file?

Open the All Documents view in the archive, Select All, then Copy n Paste to your master mail file. But you will lose file folder structure.2. Third party tools
