The monsoons are a great time to travel, to take in stunning green landscapes and enjoy hot teas and coffees with some equally hot and spicy snacks. But this is also the season of infections and illnesses. The rains bring with them moisture, fungi and germs that together can cause numerous skin diseases. It is therefore important that you take special care of your skin during the monsoons, to ensure that your skin remains perfect throughout the season.

Breakouts and acne have a larger chance of popping up on your face during the rains. A simple kit of everyday skincare essentials can ensure that you keep the pimples at bay. Here’s what you need to have in your bag at all times especially during the monsoons.

1. Face Wash: An anti-acne face wash is a must have this season. Consider buying a tulsi turmeric face wash as these elements help fight acne better. Turmeric and tulsi together have a lot of medicinal properties that keep your skin young and healthy. Wash your face every time it comes in contact with rain water or whenever you are exposed to the rains and humidity.

  1. Wipes: Carrying wet wipes or even tissues is a must this season. Not only will the come handy if you get drenched in the rains or have water splashed over you but dabbing the access moisture and sweat caused due to humidity this season can help you avoid acne and breakouts. This is also a good alternative for those times when you don’t have access to enough water to wash your face.
  2. Sanitizer: No matter how much we try we end up touching our face with our hands. This is the root cause of all your skin problems. Having a sanitizer handy will ensure that you at least put clean hands on your face.
  3. Water-based gels or moisturiser: Too many creams or ointments can make your skin oily and in the humid weather that is a big no-no. Ditch your cream based moisturiser this season for a water based hydrating gel like aloe Vera. Aloe Vera gel has a number of properties that are good for your skin.
  4. Sunscreen: It cannot be stressed enough how important it is to wear sunscreen every day. And yes, by every day we mean even when it’s raining dogs and cats and the sun hasn’t come out from behind the clouds in days. Just by applying sunscreen religiously on a daily basis you can fight a number of skin problems.
