Geneva is not known for being the cheapest city in the world, but that does not mean you will constantly be watching your wallet when you spend some time here. If you are arranging Geneva airport ski transfers but plan to spend a day or two in the city itself, here are a few tips to help you save some cash and still have a great time.

Shop on the Cheap

The city is not known for being a budget shopping destination; in fact, the prices you see in some of the shop windows may make your eyes water. However, there are places where you can pick up some cheaper souvenirs if you know where to look.

For cheap and tasty chocolate, head to Manor, a large department store located on Rue de Cornavin far away from the tourist crowds. If you are looking to pick up a bargain souvenir, the Plainpalais Flea Market could be just what you are looking for. There are also come cheap goods to be found at Place Madeleine, which is open on Saturdays and Mondays.

See a Free Concert

There are plenty of free concerts to enjoy in the city, although most of them tend to take place in the summer so they may not be ideal if you are planning Geneva airport ski transfers! However, if you are in the city during the summer, check out the free concerts and cinema held in the public parks throughout July and August.

Free Outside Attractions

If you want to get out and about and enjoy some free attractions, there are plenty of things to see and do. Just as a few examples, you can see the flower clock in Jardin Anglais, hit the beach in Parc des Eaux Vives, or chill out in Parc des Bastions.

Visit a Free Museum

There are lots of free museums to visit in the city, many of which are truly fascinating. They are a great option if you're filling in time between your Geneva airport ski transfers. Some of the best are the Natural History Museum, Maison Tavel, Museum of Art and History and Espace Ami Lullin, but there are many more.

Buy a Geneva Pass

One of the best ways to save money while in the city is to pick up a Geneva Pass as soon as you arrive. This will provide you with discounts on many attractions throughout the city, which can save you a lot of money during your stay. Pick one up at the Tourism & Conventions offices or online and enjoy the great discounts offered.

Enjoy the City on a Budget

There may be cheaper cities in the world than this one, but you can still enjoy it on a budget if you know how to go about it. When arranging your Geneva airport ski transfers, if you have some spare time, keep the above tips in mind and save yourself some money while still having a great time.
