Getting Out Of Your Ski Chalet - La Tania Bars and Restaurants

For any ski enthusiast on a winter holiday in the Alps, the sport itself is obviously likely to take precedence. However, even the most die-hard skiing nut will probably not spend 24/7 on the slopes. Everyone deserves a little rest and relaxation, and fortunately for those looking for some fun away from their ski chalet, La Tania offers a number of bars, pubs and eateries to choose from. Such is the variety of leisure spots of this sort on offer at the resort that there is even a suggested ‘pub crawl’ route, which is done on skis!

For those staying in a ski chalet, La Tania’s main haunt will probably seem to be the Ski Lodge Pub. This social hub is the largest pub in the resort and most nights of the week there will be something going on, usually a live performance by a band, a party night or a live broadcast of some sporting event. As they enjoy these attractions, guests can sip on any of the pub’s large selection of drinks, which includes all the requisite beers, as well as some flavoured vodkas, strong absinthe and a house cocktail.

The Ski Lodge is not, however, the only available option for resort dwellers wanting a little break from the four walls of their ski chalet. La Tania offers plenty of other venues, which, while perhaps not as large as the Lodge, constitute excellent alternatives for sports fans looking for something different. Some of these also cater to a somewhat different crowd than the resort’s main pub, which might be a perk for certain sectors of the holidaymaking crowd.

A good example of the latter is La Taiga, or The Tiger, a more sophisticated and upmarket cocktail bar. This venue caters to the older crowd, and might constitute a safe haven for those not fond of live music, parties or crowds. The Tiger does hold a number of events as well, but they are generally aimed at the bar’s main demographic and therefore more likely to please the older, more sophisticated crowd.

Another potentially appealing haunt for fans of good food and drink is the Chrome Bar, a modern venue which has, since 2007, replaced the bar area of Le Farcon. Like the other establishments detailed in this piece, it offers frequent live music, as well as ‘Euro Trash’ DJ nights, and can be an excellent option for the hipper crowd.

There are also plenty of other establishments further afield in Meribel, Courchevel or any of the other nearby resorts. Whatever guests' style, there should be little or no excuse to spend the entire holiday cooped up in a ski chalet; La Tania offers more than enough entertainment to keep anyone going.
