Thailand is well known for its beach holidays, with the original, and some would argue the best, being on the island of Phuket, Thailand’s largest island. Here we take a whistle stop tour of some of Phuket’s highlights. When you are ready to book, contact Brightsun Travel for a wide selection of cheap flights to Phuket, as well as hotel deals and holiday packages to suit a range of tastes and budgets.

Nightlife

Phuket has buzzing nightlife, and all across Phuket you can find a range of clubs and bars, from cheap backpacker joints, to open air lounges in 5 star hotels, plus sleek experimental restaurants. Patong, Phuket’s biggest town, is at the heart of nightlife in Phuket, and one of the island’s star attractions.

Beaches

Kata and Karon Beaches are the headliners in Phuket, located on its west coast, and draw tourists in their millions every year. Hat Surin and Ao Bang Thao are where you’ll find 5 star hotels and boutique art galleries lining the shores, whilst Patong has some of the island’s busiest and liveliest beaches.

Big Buddha

If you are feeling active you could trek to the top of the Nakkerd Hills and marvel at the 147 foot Buddha statue, visible from most of the island, backed by breathtaking views of the surrounding Andaman Sea and overlooking some of the island’s most popular beaches.

Rawai

Rawai is a laid-back town in the south of Phuket where you can explore the artistic side of the island. Take a trip to the Rawai Art Village, and experience a refreshing enclave of contemporary and local galleries. Rawai also boasts spectacular beaches and lush green hills to explore.

Phuket City

To experience the authentic side of Phuket you could visit the night markets of the stylish Phuket City, the island’s capital, where you can eat some of the best Chinese and Thai food Phuket has to offer in its bustling central food court, and stroll past old historical buildings in its Old Town.

Nature

Go north in Phuket and you will discover spectacular national parks and forest reserves where you can surround yourself with wildlife, and take diving and snorkelling adventures past pristine coral reefs. In Sirinat National Park you can laze on Hat Mai Khao, Phuket's longest beach.
