In Auburn Hills, on January 8, 2014 at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Chrysler announced that the Mopar Custom Shop would now offer customized options on every vehicle. Also the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pietro Gorlier of Mopar Brand Service, Parts and Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC, released a statement indicating that customers have the opportunity to purchase a new Chrysler 200 and have it personalized with Uconnect® Wi-Fi by Mopar.

Mopar is the name for the parts and Service Company that has outfitted Chrysler vehicles since the 1960s. The name itself combines the first two letters of the word, "motor" with the first three letters of the word, "parts." Mopar offers custom accessories that include wheels, upgraded engines and performance parts. Every Chrysler dealership in North America provides customers with the ability to have their vehicle serve as a wireless hotspot. This means that no matter where they travel, the Chrysler 200 Wi-Fi capabilities make it possible to easily access the Internet. This new feature shows that Chrysler sees where the future is going and responding to their customer’s needs.

Passengers in the Chrysler 200 can connect multiple devices to the driver’s mobile network. The network is exclusive to the vehicle; it doesn't require cellular data cards, software or additional hardware. Uconnect® is not limited to Wi-Fi access; it also enables the driver to connect to SiriusXM, which includes a Radio, Traffic and Travel Link. The system offers touch screen navigation, voice commands and steering wheel controls.

The Mopar customizations give consumers the opportunity to have factory installed internal wireless system. The Chrysler 200 is Wi-Fi capable, which means that the driver can actually walk away from the vehicle with a laptop, tablet or notebook computer and travel 150 feet and stay connected to the hotspot. This is great for business travelers who may want to step outside the vehicle and work outdoors.

The Chrysler 200 Uconnect® Wi-Fi is the technology of the future and stay connected while on the go. It gives passengers the ability to connect to a variety of multimedia entertainment sources. The entertainment choices include popular apps such as Pandora, iHeartRadio, Slacker Radio, and Yelp. Additionally, there are features for safety and convenience, these include, remote door lock and unlock, remote vehicle start, theft alarm notification, stolen vehicle assistance, roadside assistance calls, 911 calls, remote horn and light controls.

Mopar Wi-Fi never disappoints the consumer. As the driver moves from one location to another, the signal remains strong, there’s never a drop off in the wireless connection or a dead spot. The additional features of the Uconnect® system are accessed with the push of one button, followed by a voice command.

In terms of the Chrysler 200 integrated wireless abilities, there are many premium upgrades that are available. Customers may choose in vehicle charging to keep wireless devices fully charged during longer trips, or an electronic tracking system, if the vehicle theft alarm is activated, the owner will receive updated notifications by email or text.

An additional note, Chrysler is the first automobile manufacturer to offer in car charging for all mobile devices. When consumers choose the customization package, the vehicle is delivered with exact specifications.

Chrysler is one of the industry’s most influential car makers. The Wi-Fi capabilities add another dimension to the innovative features that are already available on Chrysler vehicles. The ability to connect, gives passengers an opportunity to use the Internet, with minimal distraction to the driver.

Mopar working with Chrysler is adding value to the vehicles that consumers buy. The Chrysler 200 provides consumers with mobile hotspots; no matter where they travel, the network remains available and secure.
