JoSAA-JEE Advanced 2017: Counselling round III schedule revised & announced

The third round of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for the JEE Advanced qualified students had been put on hold under the directive of the Supreme Court in response to a plea which required a new merit list to be released because of the 'bonus marks' given. The Supreme Court however withdrew its directive and asked all the IITs to continue conducting the admission and counselling process that would have been initiated on July 7 (Friday). The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) after revising the schedule for the third round of JoSAA have announced the same and are set to start counselling from today. The status of all the seats including their allocation will be displayed today at 7:00 pm.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 97 institutes for the academic year 2017-18. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 other government-funded technical institutes (other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these institutes will be made through a single platform. It had displayed first round of seat allocation on June 28, 2017 for JEE main and advanced aspirants. Candidates had till July 3, 2017 to accept the seats allocated. The allocation was based on the choices filled in by registered candidates on June 27, 2017. The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main results were announced on April 27, 2017. The result of the JEE Advanced 2017 was declared on June 11, 2017. According to media reports, about 1, 50,000 successful candidates filled their choices through JoSAA for their preferred programs. In the first round of seat allotment, 36,114 candidates got seats in the first round across 97 institutes and 11,000 candidates were offered seats in IITs.

The downloaded rank card will be considered valid for participating in counselling and seat allocation process. The students who have got their seats the third allotment can accept or withdraw seats by reporting at one of the Reporting Centres for 3rd round from July 11 (Tuesday) to July 13 (Thursday) between 10 am to 5 pm. However they will have to report between 10 am and 1 pm on July 13.
