Non-responding Outlook mail server

The Outlook is one of the most popular email client applications, but sometimes a difficult one too. Microsoft introduced Outlook to use your email communication by configuring it on your computer or mobile device. This is a common problem when your Outlook mail server becomes non-responding. There could be any reasons, among these for this situation.

  • You have not installed the latest updates
  • Outlook is in use by another process
  • Outlook is loading external content, such as images in an email message
  • A previously installed add-in is interfering with Outlook
  • Your mailboxes are too large
  • Your AppData folder is redirected to a network location
  • You have to repair your Office programs
  • Outlook data files have become corrupted or damaged
  • Your installed antivirus software is outdated, or it conflicts with Outlook
  • Your user profile has become corrupted
  • Another program conflicts with Outlook

The problem is really difficult when you are in need to send some emails on urgent basis. End Outlook.exe process

When you find the non-responding Outlook, you should immediately end/kill the Outlook.exe process. This is really required when the process is not responding. Follow these steps to end Outlook.exe.

  • Simply, start the Windows Task Manager; you can use Ctrl + Alt + Del/ by right clicking the taskbar
  • Then select the Start Task Manager
  • Now got to the Processes tab
  • Here select the OUTLOOK.EXE by clicking on it
  • And, click on the End Process button

Use Safe mode

The best way to use Outlook when it is not responding; go to safe mode. This works in most of the cases. You can enable safe mode by following these steps.

  • Simply hold down the Ctrl key and click on Outlook icon or open the command line and type outlook.exe /safe command
  • Then click on Yes to confirm that you want to start Outlook in Safe mode
  • That’s all

Disable antivirus/Firewall software

This could be reason that your Firewall or antivirus creates problem with your Outlook. You don’t need to find it a problem with your Outlook or Antivirus/Firewall; this is a small issue due to some virus definition. Simply, try disabling the software for a while and try to open Outlook once again. This could also help you.
