Abhaneri

Abhaneri is a small village of Lalsot tehsil in Dausa district in Rajasthan. It is around 100 kms from Jaipur towards Jaipur Agra National Highway.

Abhaneri village is basically known as Abha Nagri Means Bright City.This ancient village of Rajasthan is well known for its historical monument "Chand Bauri" and Harshat Mata temple. Hence the village is a very famous for its beauty and its monuments, lots of tourists come across the year to see the beauty of "Chand Bawri" which is a huge step well looks pretty while on its tour. This was a unique idea which got place a lot of years ago to save the water to avoid any inconvenience of water shortage; this is a unique monument which is very attractive and an example of very good architecture. Chand Baori is reinforced on all the sides is the largest step well of India.

History:

The monument was built by King Chand who was from Gurjar kingdom in the 9th century. As we have mentioned earlier that city name was Abha Nagri which means the city of brightness. Which is now known as "Abhaneri".harshat mata Goddess of the town spreads the Joy and happiness to the town.

Highlights:

The most attractive place of Abhaneri is Chand Baori. The huge step well was built to conserve the rain water with 13 level at 20 meters of deep is a deepest and largest step well of India.Now it has been taken care by the archeological department of India.

The Chand Baori is a step well which is regarded as one of the greatest inventions by the local people. It is located in front of harshat mata temple. Despite having the depth of 20 meters its attractive architect never seems it's so depth and looks like a great invention created by God and looks very beautiful from all the angles. There are various structures built around the step well which also creates add on to its beauty. One more attraction of Abhaneri is Harshat mata temple which was built in 10th century. You can still experience the unique craftsmanship of the temple. Harshat mata is a goddess of the town and spreads the Joy and happiness across the town all the time. Visiting the temple is worth and can feel the blessing and spirituality immediately entering the temple which provides peace of mind and a very good example of architecture as well.

Abhaneri is located on NH 11 on Jaipur Agra Highway. This location is easy to reach through Air, Road or Train if you are a traveler from outside Rajasthan then you can come to Jaipur which is the nearest place to the spot and can easily accessible to air rail or road. The distance from Jaipur to Abhaneri is around 100 kms and can be easily reachable through bus. private vehicle or taxi.
