La Tania: A Summer Paradise for Children

Generally known for being a fantastic skiing destination, La Tania is also an idyllic and very child-friendly place to spend your summer holiday. What better base could there be to explore from than a chalet? La Tania has so much to offer in the way of fun activities for all the family: an outdoor volleyball court, tennis courts, boules pitches, a basketball court, mountain biking tracks and table tennis tables – as well as all of the other great activities outlined below! Families with even more adventurous kids could consider clay pigeon shooting, archery, quad biking and canyoning too!

Paragliding

You’ll be in good hands with experienced instructors, and tandem rides are possible! This means you can have any combination of instructor and parent/child or parent and child you can think of, so it’s super safe and so much fun for children – as well as for mum and dad!

Summer Skiing in Tignes

This is our top tip for a day trip! While neighbouring Val Thorens has given up its summer skiing, the Tignes glacier is open over the summer months from 24th June until 6th August inclusive. Boasting 20km of pistes as well as a great big fun park located near the top, this will be a great outing with the kids.

Do be aware that the opening hours are only from 7.15am until 1pm, so you need to be up early to make the most of it. Although the snow is nicely compacted and pisted in the morning, under the summer sun it softens quickly and can be quite slushy by noon. Don’t let this put you off though – it’s a great family-friendly activity that the children will be excited to tell their friends about as soon as they get home.

The early opening hours mean you can have a nice family picnic on the slopes after a morning on the red and blue runs the glacier has to offer, and then spend your afternoons exploring what else La Tania has for you to do!

La Tania’s Outdoor Swimming Pool

Open every day bar Saturday from 1-6pm, this is something you could do to warm up after a morning on the slopes. Heated to a toasty 28 degrees, even on those less-than-sunny summer days, you can still comfortably use it!
