Lord Hanuman has been worshipped by all devotees who wish to gain strength and courage in their lives. He is probably one of the most revered and celebrated figures in Hindu Mythology. Although most of us know quite a bit about his life, thanks to all the TV shows, there are still many things that we don’t really know about Bajrangbali. Some of these are:

Lord Hanuman was an incarnation of Lord Shiva and is considered to be a symbol of strength, perseverance, and devotion.

Anjana was a beautiful woman of Lord Brahma’s celestial palace court. She was cursed by a sage; that when she will fall in love her face would transform to that of a monkey’s. Hearing this, Lord Brahma thought of helping her and she took birth on Earth. Anjana then fell in love with King Kesari, also known as the monkey king and they got married. Anjana was a devotee of Lord Shiva, she continued with her penance to please the God. Lord Shiva was very impressed and in turn, she wished him to be her son so that she would be freed from the curse of the sage.

King Dashrath was performing haven after which the priest gave him kheer to feed all his wives. A portion of his eldest wife, Kaushlya, was snatched by a bird who flew to where Anjana was meditating. Lord Vayu or Pawan, kept the kheer in Anjana’s hand as told by Lord Shiva. Thinking that it was given by Lord Shiva, Anjana ate it and thus gave birth to his incarnation- the son of the Lord of the Winds, Pawan Putra Hanuman.

He put Sindoor all over his body for Lord Rama’s long life

Lord Hanuman was the greatest devotee of Lord Rama. In an incident, Hanuman saw Sita applying sindoor on her forehead, on asking that why she does that she replied that it is for Lord Rama’s long life and to show her unconditional love and devotion.
