The capital city of France, Paris is recognised across the world as one of the leading centres of fashion, finance, and arts. It welcomes tourists with its cobblestone streets, elegant art galleries, and beautifully trimmed trees.   1. Eiffel Tower: When the tourists are in the Champ de Mars, a wrought iron lattice tower instantly catches their attention, which is known globally as Eiffel Tower. It has been named after Gustave Eiffel, a French civil engineer whose company had designed and built this structure. Until the unveiling of Empire State Building, it enjoyed the status of being the world's tallest building. The people visiting this structure can either take the elevator or ascend the steps to get to the first level. Visitors would be treated to a delicious gourmet meal at the Restaurant le Jules Vernes on the second floor. Upon getting to the top of this structure, they can savour some breathtaking views of Paris.
  2. Louvre Museum: What was once the home of French kings is now the largest art museum in the world. It is housed in the Louvre Palace, which was originally built during the 12th century as a fortress. Today, the visitors enter this museum through an enormous glass pyramid designed by I.M. Pei. The Louvre Museum has over 30,000 works of art exhibited in different galleries. On one side of the museum is the Jardin des Tuileries park, created by Andre Le Notre, a popular French landscape architect. It comprises of decorative pools, beautifully-trimmed trees, and benches.
  3. La Conciergerie: This was formerly a prison where prominent personalities like Marie-Antoinette and Maximilien Robespierre were kept during the French Revolution. It was opened to visitors in 1914 as a national historical monument and has become a renowned tourist attraction over the years. A major portion of this building is used even today for the law courts of Paris.
