F&L Designer Guides’ Suggestions For Minimalist Proposal Locations

Perhaps due to the influence of pop culture in western society, the act of proposing, which, it could be argued, should be seen as a private and intimate moment between two lovers, has become an overwrought, often over-the-top spectacle. ‘Simple’ proposals seem to no longer cut it nowadays, and what seems to be most important is that everyone notices the act, rather than the meaning of the act itself.

As with everything, however, there are exceptions to this norm and at F&L Designer Guides we wanted to show you how you could propose with maximum impact and minimum fuss. Even in a society where media engagements dominate the airwaves and the pages of magazines and websites, there are still those couples that understand what the act of proposing engagement was originally supposed to be all about. It is these couples that opt for an understated and private ceremony in place of big, extravagant romantic demonstrations.

It is for those sorts of couples that F&L Designer Guides has written the present article. Below, you will find some suggestions for a cosy, intimate, minimalist proposal to a proposal, which will come across as a romantic and special moment while not costing you a great deal of money. Read on to see what we came up with.

Over Dinner

It may be somewhat of a cliché, but you can always give your own spin to the old dinner proposal routine. Instead of booking a fancy restaurant for instance, why not cook dinner for your partner yourself? That way, when you present him or her with the ring, the whole moment will have an extra special and personal dimension.

In a Private, yet Unusual Location

Most of the designers we endorse here at F&L Designer Guides create unique and unusual engagement rings that are often also one-of-a-kind. Why not honour that spirit with the manner of your proposal too? Find a location where you and your significant other can be on your own and that is at once a romantic and unexpected setting for ‘popping the question’. A paddle boat on the lake at Hyde Park, for example. Or maybe you would prefer a booth at the top of the London Eye? Or, how about heading to the Zoo on an off-peak day when you can find a romantic quiet place to pop the question? The perfect place is somewhere where your partner will not expect to be proposed to, but which can simultaneously constitute a great setting for doing so.

A Camping Holiday Naturally, this one will not work unless your partner is comfortable in the great outdoors. If not, the whole moment will backfire and come off completely wrong. If they are okay with camping, however, spending a few days in a secluded and visually pleasing location can be a great situation in which to orchestrate a proposal.

That concludes the few guidelines for small and intimate proposals, courtesy of your friends at F&L Designer Guides. Even if you do not choose to follow any of our specific suggestions detailed above, we hope that at the very least this article provided inspiration for you to create your own intimate ring-presenting ceremony.
