F&L Designer Guides’ Suggestions For An Exotic Proposal

While proposal ceremonies nowadays come in all manner of shapes and sizes, most of them are still directly influenced by the ‘classic’ conception of what a moment of this type should look and feel like. This often conditions brides or grooms into simply following the rote cliché ceremonies, or worse still, blowing their budgets on something that could have been done much more simply and inexpensively, and to the same effect.

If, however, you are one of those people who feels that engagements should be affecting and unusual regardless of how much they cost and what people think about them, you are in luck. Here at F&L Designer Guides, we are all about skirting the clichés and creating your own special moments, and that is why we have come up with a list of suggestions for exotic places and exciting ways in which to pop that all-important question. As with every other list and article of this type, these are simple suggestions and guidelines that aim simply to offer inspiration and ideas. Hopefully, you will have enough imagination to tweak them and make them your own. However, we also hope that this article serves as a starting point for partners wanting to opt for a big, romantic, and exotic setting in which to surprise their partners.

From The Top Of A Landmark

By including this option, we do not want you to think that you have to book the top floor of the Eiffel Tower, put a romantic candle-lit table up there and hire a violin quartet! That might look lovely in rom-coms, but at F&L Designer Guides, we are a bit more realistic than that. Simply choosing the moment, when you and your partner are looking out over a stunning landscape, to reach into your pocket and surprise your loved one will be more than enough to create a reaction.

On the Course of An Adventure

Island locations and tourist resorts are quickly becoming stale and clichéd, but if you and your partner are fond of adventures, a holiday to a destination such as the Amazon or West Africa can also give your proposal an exciting, memorable and romantic context. Can you imagine popping the question while standing close to a pack of lions, or while gently cruising down the river in a canoe? An option like this would be one that would not easily be forgotten.

Before an Adventure

Alternatively, why not propose before taking off on your adventure? Films and TV have told us that an airport is a romantic place to pop the question, and while that view is perhaps not held by all, getting down on one knee at the departure lounge will at least net you points for originality. Just make that sure your partner can hear you over the din of the planes and all of the airport announcements.

While Swimming with Dolphins

It appears that this one is becoming an increasingly popular one (we even came across one particular story here at the F&L Designer Guides offices), but that does not mean you can’t still make it special. What’s more, it is relatively easy to book a swim with dolphins in a number of places, and it is a private enough experience that your proposal will not be the target of unwanted attention.

Here, in short, are some fun suggestions for a more exotic, but still unique, proposal ceremony, straight from the team at F&L Designer Guides. As always, feel free to use this article as a starting point when creating your own special occasion.
