Relaxation and Romance in Avoriaz

Avoriaz is famous for more than just its steep slopes and fast skiing. The beautiful resort, sitting high up in the mountains of the Morzine commune, offers opportunities for relaxation, romance, and fun of every type. Couples especially enjoy Avoriaz’s fine dining and romantic offerings: four activities in particular will be hard to miss.

Pampering at Deep Natural Spa

Inside the steam room or outside in the jacuzzi, it’s up to you. At Deep Nature Spa, in the La Falaise area of Avoriaz, warm colours greet visitors and locals alike, looking for massages, facials, sensory showers, and many more treatments. Skiing is particularly harsh on the skin, especially for those of us who aren’t as young as we used to be, so spa days up in the mountains always feel extra good.

Swimming at Aquariaz

Aquariaz offers a great range of pools and swimming areas for both excitement and relaxation. A 10-meter-high slide named the Slidewinder shoots you down a tube and into a halfpipe, if you are into that sort of thing. If you prefer the soft ebb and flow of the water, there is also a space to chill, with a large central area comprised of small indoor rivers and bubble massage seats. For stunning views over the entire valley, the outdoor jacuzzi is second to none.

Fine Dining at Les Enfants Terribles

While eating well is essential on holiday, eating very well is even better. Listed in the Michelin Guide for 2017, Les Enfants Terribles is situated in Hôtel des Dromonts and offers many of the classics of French cuisine. Decorated in the style of the Sixties with portraits of all the great skiers who have passed through the alpine resort, the restaurant is a truly intimate setting. Why not eat a pan-seared duckling filet drizzled in sweet honey dressing? You are in Avoriaz for goodness sake!

Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides

No cars are allowed in Avoriaz giving it a unique and magical feel. The most popular form of transport to and from the restaurants and shops in the surprisingly large town centre are horse-drawn sleighs. Few things are more romantic or Christmassy in the deep winter than snuggling up under a fur blanket while being pulled across the snow on the back of a sleigh. They may not be reindeer, and the drivers might not always wear bushy white beards and red trousers, but this is pretty much as close as you can get.

Travelling to Avoriaz

With all those snow covered icy roads, driving yourself to Avoriaz is not the way you want to start your holiday. Instead, why not let the experts do it? Shuttle Direct offers a service straight to Avoriaz from Geneva Airport. Taxi journeys whisk travellers to the resort take roughly 2 hours, the quickest and safest way to travel. If you let Shuttle Direct know in advance they will also take all your ski equipment along too and for free! So, agree a fixed low price before heading out, and jump in a Shuttle Direct Geneva airport taxi when you touch down. Easy.
