We all know Chamonix is a wonderful resort for skiers and thrill-seekers, but it’s also fabulous for families. There are friendly faces and fantastic facilities, especially for younger children. Here are a few of the most magical family-friendly, fun-filled activities to help you get more out of your ski holiday.

All Things Animal!

With plenty of zoos, nature reserves and the possibility to go on a husky ride through the snow, little ones with a love for animals will have all their dreams come true in Chamonix! The Alpine Zoo Les Marécottes is a 35 killometre squared alpine area at 1100 metres and is picture-perfect! Surrounded by pine and larch forests, you can see wolves, deer, wild boar, black bears and lynx (among many other creatures!) in their natural habitat. For more adorable deer sightings, you can head to the Merlet Animal park, a big open area in which deer, marmots, llamas and chamois roam freely. If Saint-Bernards are your little one’s favourite dog, then you can’t miss the opportunity to vist the breeding centre between Servox and Les Houches.

All Aboard for the Amusement and Adventure Park

How does toboganning, trampolining, luging, ziplining and electric motorcycling sound as a way to pass an afternoon? For all of this and more, it’s just a hop skip and a jump over to the Chamonix Amusement Park, where you’ll find all of these activities for children and adults, and some delicious crepes for afterwards, too.

Children and the Practicalities

There are plenty of childcare professionals based in and around Chamonix in case you parents want to hit the slopes solo some days. With age-specific daycare groups taking care of children from 3 years up to 17 years old age in 3 different age groups, you can have peace of mind that your kiddies are enjoying themselves while being looked after. The youngest can take part in full or half day activities, with meals included and suitable mountain activities undertaken. Older children can even try out mountain biking and rafting with trained professionals during the day.

How to Get There

There are plenty of airlines running UK to Geneva routes at low prices every day, so you’ll be spoilt for choice. Getting to Chamonix from Geneva is also quick and easy with a professional transfer service from Shuttle Direct.
