Tecno Mobile, owned by China-headquartered Transsion Holdings, is planning to be amongst the top five smartphone makers in the country by 2018.

Transsion, which enjoys a 40 per cent market share in sub-Saharan Africa, has already launched two other brands – "itel", in the feature phone and smartphone segment, and "Infinix", an online-only smartphone – in the country. It has also entered into a joint venture with home-grown handset-maker Spice Mobility – makers of Spice brand of phones.

According to Anish Kapoor, CEO, Tecno and Infinix India, the former brand will focus on the offline distribution channel only targeting?8,000-15,000 range.

Around three months back, Tecno was launched in Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan. The plan now is to introduce its offerings across 15 markets over the next 30-45 days. Some of the target States include West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Sikkim, Maharashtra, among others.

"We are targeting to be among top five smartphone brands in India in offline space by end of December 2018," Kapoor said.

Offerings under Tecno will be launched with a special focus on India. Devices will have features that cater specific to Indian requirements like night photography, among others. If you are a fan of TECNO Mobile you are about to get a spark of excitement stream through you. Reports indicate that the company is preparing itself to launch a new series of smartphones aimed at the price-cautious.

Dubbed, "Spark", the company has been teasing of the new offerings on their social media for a while now. MobiTrends reports that this new series could be a replacement for the music-centric series, Boom. In case you hadn’t noticed, there has not been a release of a new Boom device this year, to the disappointment of many TECNO fans.

The Spark series doesn’t seem to have a dedicated target market aside from the already saturated budget category. Tech-ish confidently reports that the new smartphones will cost less than Ksh.10,000. At launch, TECNO will unveil the TECNO Spark K7 and TECNO Spark Plus K9.

The Spark K7 is said to feature a 5.5-inch HD display, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, Android 7.0 Nougat with HiOS on top, kept running by a 3000mAh battery and packing a 13MP main camera paired with a 5MP selfie camera.

The Spark Plus K9 looks to be the more premium offering with a 6-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, Android 7.0 Nougat with HiOS on top, a slightly bigger 3400mAh battery and the exact same camera optics.

Courtesy Tech-ishFrom an image obtained by Tech-ish, it looks like the Spark series will feature a metallic body, which is very rare at this price points and will also include a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. The devices are said to hit the market mid-August.

At this point, the only official confirmation we have is that TECNO is indeed bringing in a new series of smartphones with the Spark moniker, however, the specifications and price are all but rumours, so have some salt.website redesigning India
