Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 435 miles towards the south west of the island of Sri Lanka. The Maldivian island is comprised of 26 atolls, including 1192 islets, out of which only 2000 are inhabited. Based on its population, Maldives is the smallest Asian nation and also the smallest Islamic nation in the world. Being a holiday destination, the nation presents a stereotypical tropical paradise, amazing coastline scenery and beaches that are perfect for postcard photography. With direct flights to Maldives available from many other destinations and the nicely developed infrastructure for tourists makes it a smooth and trouble free vacation for tourists of all ages. Male is the capital island and is home to the international airport where all flights to the Maldives arrive. Along with government buildings, the island also focuses on tourist activity.

If you are looking for the perfect family holiday or honeymoon with safe beaches and luxury resorts, Maldives is the place to be. If you have had enough of the beach, take a day’s break to explore beautiful sights across the archipelago. Once you have settled at one resort, you can move about to nearby islands via speedboats. If you are looking for a hotel in Maldives, you will probably find it only in Male. This is because the norm is that islands are occupied entirely by resorts. Popular accommodation styles include stilted bamboo bungalows built over the water and are seen as romantic settings to enjoy the beauty of the Indian Ocean.

If water is your thing, then it is definitely worth getting on to one of the cheap flights to the Maldives and enjoying the many water sports such as snorkeling, surfing and water skiing which are available on all resorts. In fact, some resorts also provide power boats and water skis on rent so that users are able to take in the beautiful escapade of the water around them.

Moving on, the capital island Male is known as the shopper’s haven. So if you are a crazy shopper, Male offers an experience that will always be embedded in your memory. There are a countless number of malls with several shops selling souvenirs and gift items which many foreigners are always looking for.

In addition to these, Maldives also provides an amazing whale submarine experience, national museum, Male fish market and many other places of enjoyment to make the nation a sought after tourist destination.
