More than 5 million tourists arrive in Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, to explore its fascinating natural surroundings. If you're planning to visit this Spanish island, be assured that there are plenty of exciting experiences awaiting you in this part of the world. The island is also popular for hosting one of the largest carnivals in the world, the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It comprises of two parts, one being the official carnival and the other, the street carnival that witnesses enthusiastic celebrations by people on the streets.

If you're wondering which time of the year would be the best for you to visit the island, there can be quite a few options. One would be during the major events or festivals, such as the week-long carnival. For those looking for cheap Tenerife holidays, the off-season from December to February is an ideal time. The weather in Tenerife for most parts of the year is mild and pleasant but it is warm and tourist-friendly during the summers from June to August. This is also the peak tourist season, and for this reason, you'd have to book your holidays well in advance. With regards to season, the best times to be in this island are the months from March to May and from September to November.

As you begin exploring this gorgeous Canary island, you'll certainly come across many attractive beaches. Among them is La Tejita, one of Tenerife's largest natural beaches. A short drive from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital city, would take you to a manmade beach called Las Teresitas. It is an excellent beach created using sands imported from the Sahara and lined with lush green palm trees. Another enchanting natural beach is El Bollullo, which is characterised by a dark and beautiful sandy stretch. You'd be treated to some breathtaking views upon visiting the Playa Jardin or the Garden Beach during your Tenerife holidays. This beach is made up of black volcanic sands and is well-complemented by a botanic garden and swaying palms.

In the northern part of Tenerife, you'll find historic towns, gardens, and some architectural delights along the walking routes. An enormous volcanic crater would welcome you in the Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your all inclusive Tenerife holidays give you the opportunity to take a cable car ride above the crater and enjoy captivating views of much of the Canary Islands. You can watch some whales and dolphins in the warm waters between the La Gomera Island and Tenerife.

When you're in Tenerife, you'll get to taste some excellent 'Tapas' dishes. They are Spanish dishes that are eaten as snacks. Among the popular ones is Papas Arrugadas, served with meat and fish. They are wrinkled potatoes boiled in salty water and accompanied by red and green sauces. Churros de Pescado or 'deep-fried fish in batter' is another exciting tapas dish that you can taste in one of Tenerife's traditional restaurants.
