The SHI compels all the businesses in Czech Republic to actively contribute to one of the several medical insurance policies. Both the employers and the employees are required to contribute into the chosen policy. Many students visit the Czech Republic every year for educational purposes. These students are expected to carry appropriate medical policies before or immediately after entering the Czech Republic. The government has two different medical policies for the individuals living in Czech Republic. On the other hand, it has three different health policies available for the students depending upon the nationality. The type of student indemnity plan also depends upon the length of the visit to this country.

State Health Plan

The medical assurance policies supported by the Czech government are cheaper than a private plan. However, this facility is available to European citizens with European Health Insurance Cards. The non-European individuals visiting Czech Republic are not eligible to enjoy benefits of a state-supported indemnity plan. However, some European individuals carry a private travel insurance plan alongside the state supported plan, as this policy only covers for the expenses of emergency medical assistance. In this scenario, a person may need to pay for a doctor’s appointment in spite of having a state-supported plan. A travel indemnity plan can cover these expenses and provide additional benefits alongside the benefits of state-supported policy.

Private Health Policies

The private health policies are for the non-European temporary residents of the Czech Republic. The unemployed individuals, such as the students, and the dependant family members of the non-European temporary residents are also eligible for a private health policy. The cost of these plans depends upon the type of benefits and services. Hence, it is essential to look for cheap health insurance plan when selecting a private policy, although, it is wise to take that step after carefully checking the benefits related to such plans.

An individual is allowed to switch the provider of private medical assurance policies due to dissatisfactory service or due to lack of recognition from the health care providers. It is crucial to perform a comparative analysis before selecting insurance policies according to individual requirements. There are two different types of the private health assurance policies.

  1. A complex insurance plan for health for foreign nationals covers the expense of acute medical care, the consequent medical treatment and expense of preventive cares.
  2. The emergency medical indemnity plans cover the expenses of both urgent and necessary medical treatments when non-European foreign individuals stay in the Czech Republic.

Expat Plan

The expat health insurance plan covers the medical expenses of an expatriate when he/she lives in another country. The expat health plan covers the expenses of both the emergency and long-term medical care alongside the dental care expenses. The amount of insurance premium depends upon the medical history and the age of a policy holder. The type of medical coverage an individual receives also determines the amount of premium. These health assurance policies can keep a foreign national secure in Czech Republic.
