Let's play a scene.

Imagine walking into an office where the atmosphere is relaxed, the employees are well dressed and well mannered, the office is clean and maintained, the air is fresh, and the work process goes smoothly without being interrupted. A utopia of some sort, wouldn't you say?

What would cross your mind? Maybe 'These guys really know what they are doing!' or 'I have to admit, I am kind of impressed by how clean and organized this office is!'. Whatever it is, it may decide if you want to do business with this company or not. We quickly form an opinion based only on the first impression we get so that's what it makes it crucial for businesses to have pristine offices.

Whether you enter such an office as a fellow businessman, a newly hired employee or just as a client, there is one thing which you always look for, probably without even realizing it, and that thing is called trust. When you observe an office like this, you see more than just clear windows, clean carpets and well-dressed people. You see the concern and you know you can put our trust in someone who is concerned.

What does a clean office say? Like every company, this one also strives for profits. Unlike every company, this one cares enough for its employees to ensure them with a clean and relaxing office space by hiring one of the many cleaning companies has to offer. The advantages of a clean office are numerous.

Clutter is one of the biggest factors that contribute to stress. Stress on its turn causes a long list of interference such as memory problems, inability to concentrate, poor judgment and so on. Dirty carpets, old scratched furniture and bad odours just add more to the already bad working atmosphere. On the other hand, organized paperwork, cleanliness and fresh air are just the right factors to stimulate the mind to be creative and reliable. That way everybody is happy. The employees are happy to work at a place where they feel good at. The business partners are happy because they see satisfied employees who work with inspiration and determination. The clients are happy because they see a company which can be trusted to take good care of them just as they take care of their employees.

As corny as it may sound, a clean office really is a happy office.

A clean and tidy office is not only a comfortable and relaxing place to stay and work at but is also a reflection of your whole company and image. And let us not forget it makes an impression on customers and that should never be forgotten or underestimated. So here is what you need to do for a clean and tidy office:

1. Organize papers.

It's hard to find what you need in disorganised papers or at least you needlessly lose time searching. Filing cabinets make the perfect solution for this problem. They can store invoices, estimates, work orders, vendor information, product specs and so on. You may also consider scanning some documents that can be archived in order to save more space. Desktop trays and wall mounted "pockets" come in handy for easy access to immediate reference documents such as open customer files, documents in current dispute and bills.

2. Clean break room.

If there is food that has been in the refrigerator for longer than a week, throw it out and wipe the inside of the fringe with a rag dampened with disinfectant. Clean the interior of the microwave every day by, again, using a rag with disinfectant. Daily cleaning your dish drainer, if you have got one, is strongly recommended in order to prevent mildew. Replace dish sponges when needed and wash regularly dish and hand towels.

3.... And everything else.

Other things to keep in mind include emptying wastebaskets from the break room, office spaces, conference room, public area and restrooms every day; keeping your electronics clean and free of dust; regularly cleaning desktops of food crumbs, dust and smudges. Keeping everything organized with the help of paper trays, bookshelves, pencil holders and so on is also essential for the quality of your work. If you are visited by your clients, keeping your public area presentable is an absolute must. Clean the windows, walls and mirrors regularly and vacuum the carpets.

Keeping an office clean is not an easy task, there are a lot of things to keep in mind and it surely takes some time. If you feel you are not up to this challenge, you can always look up what professional office cleaning services have to offer. These companies are specially trained for this kind of work and can do the job twice as fast and twice as good, so maybe it might be a good investment.
