Inkjet printing is essentially a non-impact process where ink is emitted from nozzles while they pass over the media. Liquid ink of various colors is squirted onto the paper (or other printing media like plastic film or canvas) to build an image. A print head scans the image in horizontal stripes with the help of a motor assembly that moves from left to right and back. The paper is rolled up in vertical steps. The printer prints one strip (or row) at a time and then the paper is rolled on ready for the next strip.

All about the print quality

There are two main determinants for color print quality:

  1. Resolution measured in dots per inch
  2. Number of levels or graduations that can be printed per dot.

In general, the higher the resolution and the more the number of levels, the better the overall print quality will be. Another important factor to be considered for print quality is the ink that is used.

The quality of output from the inkjet printers could be near photographic if the right kind of ink is used for the purpose. It also depends on the type of ink used – whether slow and penetrating or fast-drying. The slow-drying inks are generally better suited for monochrome printing. Color printing requires fast drying inks because different colors are mixed to produce the desired output and they need to dry quickly to avoid blurring. Slow drying inks might bleed into one another if used for color printing.

Canon has been manufacturing high quality inks to suit the requirements of the printing industry for a long time now. Especially, the Canon iPF inks are designed for professional printing and are known for their high quality, crisp prints.

But let’s face it – printing is not cheap. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) cartridges are pretty pricy and replacing them each time weighs heavy on your pockets. If your printing needs are high, and constant replacement of ink cartridges is wearing you out financially, you will need to consider your options carefully and select affordable options for printing.

Canon replacement inks

One solution to the pressing need of high volume prints without compromising on quality could be using replacement inks. Replacement inks are those that are not manufactured by the company that manufactures the printers, but are of the same quality and have the ability to produce equally crisp prints.

For example, the imageprograf replacement ink from STS Inks is a great alternative for Canon inks. They are designed perfectly to replicate the high standards of reliability and performance of the LUCIA inks of the Canon iPF printers. Our ink formulations have the exact density, viscosity, surface tension and particle size of the original inks and are capable of producing a stunning color gamut, accurate color reproduction and smooth tonal gradations on a wide range of print media.

If you are looking for high quality Canon inks that are affordable, using replacement inks could be a great choice.
