It is located in the lower parts of Makkah on a mountain called Jabal Thawr. When the Quraish tribe arrived at the cave they saw that it had a spider web and nests of birds spread all over. Upon seeing this, they moved on, thinking that there was no one other than birds and spiders inside the cave.
