Yesterday, I got a call from my mom. There was a thunderstorm in her locality. That’s why electricity has been gone for an hour. When the electricity came back, she tried to go back to the internet, but she was unable to connect to the internet.

At that moment, she thought, there must be the problem from ISP side. So she called to internet service provider for the solution. The ISP told her that everything is working from there end. It is just the router that is not working fine after the power outage.

So she decided to call me and asked me for help, while I was helping her, I decided to write the troubleshooting steps on the internet. So if there is any other person also having the same problem, they can find the solution for their problem.

Whenever your linksys router has stopped working, there can be several problems with it. I will suggest you check the following things.

  1. Check the connection between router and modem. Make sure, your modem is connected from WAN port of the router to the computer.
  2. Now unplug the power cable from your router for 1 minute and plug it back. After plug in the power cable, you need to wait for 1 minute and try to access the internet.
  3. If your router is still not working, I will suggest you reboot your modem and wait for one minute.
  4. If you are using an old wireless router. This problem may be related to firmware. So I will suggest you update the router firmware.
  5. Sometime, your router might lose internet settings. So I will suggest you configure the internet settings on your router once again and reboot it.
  6. If the Linksys router is unable to find the physical address. It may stop working. so I will suggest you, do Mac cloning once.
  7. Finally, your router will start working fine, but somehow, if none of the steps are working for you. I will suggest you to factory restore your router once and setup it once again.
