In Western Australia, we have locum anaesthetist jobs in a range of locations, from urban environments, to coastal cities, and historic towns. Whether you’re interested in Australia’s history, its iconic outback culture, its cities, or its beaches, if you want to undertake a medical job in Australia, we can help you find the perfect place to take on your next locum role. Currently we have locum positions for anaesthetists in the Kalgoorlie, Geraldton, and Perth. Here are just some of the amazing things to see and do in these great Australian cities:

Perth is the capital of Western Australia, and the country’s sunniest city. As the fourth most populous city in Australia, it has a bustling, lively atmosphere, which is perfectly paired with a stunning coastal setting. Here, Australian culture blends beautifully with nature, allowing lucky locals (and locums!) to soak up the vibrant yet relaxed urban ambience, enjoy breathtaking ocean views, swim, surf, and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of Cottesloe beach, take scenic strolls through Kings Park and Botanic Gardens (one of the largest inner-city parks in the world), and taste local wines from the stunning Swan Valley and delicious street-food from the city Twilight Market.

Geraldton is a picturesque coastal city north of Perth, established around a major ocean port, looking out across the Indian Ocean, and thriving on the fishing and shipping industries. At the Museum of Geraldton, located on the marina, you can learn all about the fascinating Aboriginal Yamaji history of the region, as well as the marine environment that surrounds the city, and the archaeological artefacts salvaged from European shipwrecks off the coast of Australia. If you are particularly interested in Australian maritime history, the HMAS Sydney Memorial is a must see. This poignant memorial for the famous Australian WW2 cruiser was permanently established in 2001, and features a vast ocean vista, the symbolic Dome of Souls, the Waiting Woman statue, and a wall of remembrance. The foreshore area has tracks for cycling, walking, running and skateboarding (if you’re keen!), as well as many popular and award-winning eateries, ranging from fish and chip shops to refined restaurants, where you can sample Geraldton’s famous local delicacy, the Western Rock Lobster. There are also many offshore activities to enjoy, such as sailing, surfing, scuba diving, and fishing.

Kalgoorlie is a historic, rural town situated beside Australia’s second largest open-cut gold mine, the Super Pit, an icon of Australia’s mining industry. You can take in the awe-inspiring magnitude of the pit (which is a massive 3.7 kilometres long, 1.5 kilometres wide, and 600 metres deep) from the Super Pit Lookout, a popular attraction which draws in thousands of locals and tourists each year. Established in 1893, Kalgoorlie has a very rich history, which is reflected in its several historic hotels, such as the Exchange Hotel, and the Palace Hotel, where you can stay, and see beautiful turn-of-the-century Australian architecture. There are also multiple museums, such as the Goldfields War Museum, and the Museum of the Goldfields, where you can learn about the town’s fascinating military history, and mining heritage. The town also has much to offer sports-enthusiasts, who will enjoy a day at the races at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Racing Club, or a trip to the scenic Kalgoorlie golf course. And for those seeking arts and culture, there is Heartwalk, a walking trail which wends its way through the Kalgoorlie, showcasing the many beautiful murals that adorn the CBD, as well as the Goldfields Arts Centre, a popular gallery and theatre that celebrates contemporary Australian creative arts.
