Going green is in—and it is no longer a passing trend. It’s the new normal. Many people are finally realising the need to preserve our environment and to change destructive habits that leave huge negative impacts on the earth. The construction industry is becoming much more environmentally conscious, too. The recent years saw the rise of the green building material that reduces carbon footprint while ensuring eco-friendly building practices. Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks are among the most commonly used green materials in construction. They are used as environment friendly alternatives to conventional red clay bricks, and they offer advantages like superb sound and thermal insulation, light weight, and a high load bearing capacity. This way, they are able to help builders save money and ensure energy-efficient installation of blocks.

Using green building material could make your facility qualified for a LEED certification. The objective of green building is to construct sound structures that are environmentally sustainable, without sacrificing the comforts of modern living. Builders and architects follow comprehensive recycle, repurpose, and reuse models to create eco-friendly buildings and ensure an environment friendly building process that has the least impact to the environment. This way, green building material may contribute to generating clean energy, increasing the efficiency of HVAC systems, and better selection of construction location.

Green building material is manufactured with environment friendly methods, too. AAC blocks, for instance, are manufactured following sustainable methods that seek to reduce the carbon footprint. The blocks are created from fly-ash, a by-product from steel manufacturing, unlike clay bricks, which are made using cultivable soil from forests. The manufacturing process of AAC blocks require around 30 percent less energy than the energy needed for creating clay bricks, resulting in lesser carbon emissions. Moreover, the bricks are lighter than clay bricks, even for the same volume, resulting in savings in logistics expenses, and an easier way to transport to higher levels.

Plaster and cement joints are typically formulated with chemicals, which may not be safe for the environment and to the people. Green building material, like AAC blocks, need minimal water to join using specially formulated bonding and plaster agents, and they cure in less than 24 hours. This way, there is no need to consume too much water.
