Traveasy offers cheap international air tickets, taking you to the heart of this eclectic city. London is very large and fast-paced, so planning a trip here can be overwhelming for first-time travellers. To make the most of your time in the city, it’s best to plan in advance and do some research. Below is a brief guide to your getaway to London.

When to Visit

London can be visited at any time of year as it has a mild climate and the weather is rarely extreme enough to prevent you from getting around. However, the great British weather can be unpredictable at the best of times, so we would recommend that you bring an umbrella with you in case of rain. A popular time to visit London is in July and August, which is usually the hottest time of year, so you can make the most of the city’s rooftop bars, parks and beer gardens. November/December is also a great time to visit, as there is a beautiful display of Christmas markets and lights around the city.

Getting Around

London has an excellent public transport network system with a variety of cheap and easy ways to get around the city. Travel cards and oysters are available to purchase and customers can use their credit or debit cards with contactless technology. The tube is the city’s main transport provider, with underground lines that travel across the city, covering all of the main tourist attractions as well as suburban areas. There are also hundreds of different bus routes with frequent services in London. The best way to plan your trips around the city is on the journey planner at tfl.gov.uk, which allows you to enter your transport queries and be provided with a list of routes and an estimated journey time.

Where to Stay

If you are only visiting London for a short period of time, then it would be best to stay in zone 1-2 as the majority of the city’s attractions are located in this region, so you wouldn’t want to waste precious holiday time travelling. If you plan on spending a bit longer in the city, then it might be best to stay a little outside of the central areas, as accommodation prices can work out expensive. If you’re flying into Heathrow Airport, Acton is a very convenient place to stay as it’s just a few stops away on the Piccadilly line; it’s also close enough to Central London with many convenient transport options to major attractions.
