Outback Tours
Posted: May 17, 2018
Casey Australia Tours has been running tours throughout outback Australia for over 45 years. Here are some of the outback sights you should be sure not to miss.
Darwin
The capital of the Northern Territory, Darwin is filled with fun and adventure. Well known for its hot weather, delicious food, outdoor markets and adventurous activities. The city is filled with a variable melting pot of cuisines. Italian, Malasian, Greek and fresh seafood straight off the boat, this city has a lot to offer foodies. Don’t forget to visit to the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, the Darwin Culture Museum and many more sights while in the town. The town also provides a good base from which to explore the regions natural landscapes, including Kakadu National Park, CuttaCutta Caves and Litchfield National Park. Casey Tours travels to Darwin and surrounds on the 11 Day Top End Adventure.
Holland Track
Linking Broomehill to Coolgardie, the 700 kilometre Holland Track was originally created as a short cut to the goldfields. This historical journey connects you to the history of the outback, and the gold rush of the late 1800s. Visit Wave Rock, Broomehill, Lake Grace, Victoria Rocks, Coolgardie, Hannans North Tourist Mine, Kalgorlie and many other sights of the goldfields. Learn about the history in more detail by making a visit to Broomehill museum. This exciting region of the West Australia outback is well worth a visit, and Casey Tours travel can take you there on the 8 Day Holland Way & Golden Quest Discovery Trail Tour.
Uluru
Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is a large monolith in the heart of the Northern Territory. The nearest town Alice Springs is a short 450km drive on red dirt roads synonymous with the outback. Uluru is sacred to Aborigine Australians, and plays a part in many dreamtime stories. Nestled in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, the rock is a sight that is truly iconic and should be on every Aussie’s bucket list. Casey Tours visit Uluru on several of their tours including: 15 Day Australia’s Longest Shortcut, 20 Day Western Half Tour, 13 Day Tanami Track Tour and the 16 Day Central Australia Tour.
Mount Augustus
490 kilimeters east of Carnarvon is WA’s answer to Uluru, Mount Augustus. The monolith is larger than Uluru, and is well worth the drive from Perth. Francis Gregory who spotted the mount in 1958, was the first European to climb it, and today many visitors take the climb to the top to survey the amazing views over the National Park. Casey Tours travel to Mount Augustus on a 5 Day and 8 Day Tour.
