NHAI Sanctions Rs 4,494 Crores Highway Project in Telangana

Under its ambitious umbrella project, Bharatmala Pariyojna, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), sanctioned 4 road projects corresponding a budget of Rs 4,494 crores to industrial firms in Telangana. Further, the government’s autonomous agency officially promulgated the grant by issuing a Letter of Award (LoA) for constructing 188.15 km of highways on EPC (engineering, procurement and construction).

The National Highways Authority of India

• under the supervision of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) - is planning to develop this project in coherence to the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) of Bharatmala. The cluster project will subsume all other highway projects by increasing NH connectivity by 77 percent. The NHAI is aiming to construct 44 economic corridors by increasing the NH corridor count from 5 to 50.

NHAI officials say that the grant to Telangana embodies development of roads and highways in the Southern part of the country. The four projects will elongate along four lanes of 39.98 km on NH 161 from Kandi to Ramsanpalle. These assignments are proposed to built on EPC model and estimated to cost around Rs 1,201.62 crores.

The initial phase of the project will be carried by GKC Projects Ltd. The second phase of the project will be laid from Ramsanpalle village to Mangloor village (using the HAM) on 46.6 km, four lanes, at a cost of Rs 1,220.83 crores, and it will be executed by KNR Constructions Pvt Ltd.

Besides these two phases, Dilip Buildcon is assigned a Rs 1,082.65-crore project and it will be constructed across NH-161 from Mangloor village to the Telangana-Maharashtra border and will be developed under Hybrid Annuity Model. These four legs are planned to be deployed under the prestigious project Bharatmala Pariyojana.

The Bharatmala Pariyojna is said to be the second largest construction undertakings by the NHAI in the country. It is aimed at improving nodal road networks and highway connectivity of economic corridors and remote areas, and is expected to create 100 million jobs.

The Centre’s autonomous wing’s Rs 4,494 crores highway project grant to Telangana will enhance road and highway infrastructure. It will also spearhead the economic development of Telangana by generating employment opportunities. The Bharatmala Pariyojana is subsuming all the highway projects including the flagship National Highway Development Project (NHDP) and is taking the nation towards the summit of development.

The NHAI’s umbrella initiative is powering the road connectivity, bridging the gaps in the highway development projects and opening opportunities for trade, education, and employment. Along with the NHAI, the National Highway & Industrial Development Corporation, and State Public Works department are executing Bharatmala Pariyojna.

Enhancing the highway connectivity solely in the economic corridors, borders and distant places, the Bharatmala initiative is spearheading the highways sector. Being at the helm of Bharatmala, the highway autonomous agency is undertaking the highway and road development initiatives throughout the country and the grant to the Telangana will prosper the State and cultivate trade and commerce.
