Winter has arrived, and with colder nights and rainy days it can be easy to spend time indoors and forget about all the wonderful activities available within a short drive of Perth. Here are some winter highlights from the Casey Australia Tours day tour winter calendar.

Alpacas in the Gardens of Jalbrook Estate

Alpacas are a usual animal indeed! Highly valued by the ancient Incans, Alpacas provided fleece for clothing as well as food, milk and company. With their long necks, furry coat and smiling faces, they are a fun addition to any farm. Jalbrook Estate is a three hour drive from the city, near Balingup town ship. Set amongst gardens with a range of trees, plants and flora, Jalbrook Estate is picturesque. The estate is also home to a herd of Alpcas, and offers a gift shop where you can buy produce made from the animals fleece. Perhaps pick up an alpaca scarf or jumper to keep the winter chill at bay.

York Motor Museum & Olive Oil Company Tour

The York Motor Museum is a fascinating place to visit for any car enthusiast. The museum houses cars from the 1920s and 1930s, American classics from the 1950s, racing cars and a whole host of other automobile paraphernalia. There are even motorcycles’ and racing bikes for those fans of two wheel transport. The town of York is the oldest inland town in WA, and is well worth a visit for its history and old buildings. While in the region don’t forget to stop by the York Olive Oil Company to sample some of the award winning produce.

Christmas in July

Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere is a cold time of year, making festive jumpers, roaring fires, spicy mulled wine and hearty food the order of the day. Aussie summer means that Christmas has a different feel, as we head outdoors and choose lighter foods to suit the hot weather. Christmas in July gives you a chance to experience all the finest festive elements of the festive season in the right kind of weather. Join Casey Tours for a hearty luncheon, with all the Christmas trimmings – and don’t forget to bring your festive jumper!

Balingup Medieval Carnivale

Each year the town of Balingup transforms into a medieval fairground in celebration of a time long since passed. The carnivale features costumed performers, market stalls, parades, performances, jousting, battles and plenty of other events to entertain visitors. Dress up in your finest medieval costume, furs and enjoy the festivities.
